Re: [BlueBallsandStrikes] Digest Number 292

I think the Cy Young winner you forgot was Mike Marshall, relief pitcher for the
1974 NL Champs.

In his Cy Young year he pitched in 106 games. In 208 innings he had an ERA of
2.42 with 15 wins and 21 saves

Among other teams, he pitched for the 1969 Seattle Pilots and was prominent in
Jim Bouton's book, Ball Four.

Sorry. I didn't say - Yes, the past Cy Young Dodger winners were there.
And Orel did a recorded message that was shown on DiamondVision. He switched
from his TX Rangers cap to the Dodger cap while he was congratulating Gagne
and
then said something like, "Well, I gotta get back to work" and switched back
to his Rangers cap. Valenzuela was there, of course, still a huge draw among
the Angelenos, but he had to work in the radio booth afterward. Don
Drysdale's son was there (really young looking) and the one other, whose name
escapes
me, but all four threw out the opening pitches.

Was it Don Newcombe? Sandy Koufax wasn't there? That's too bad. I didn't think that Orel was going to be able to make a personal appearance but it was nice...
