Dodgers offering Perez for Sexson
NBCSports.com news services
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the market for a first baseman, offering
left-hander Odalis Perez as trade bait, the Miami Herald reported Monday,
citing unnamed sources. The Dodgers' main target is Brewers All-Star Richie
Sexson, but their second choice is Marlins first baseman Derrek Lee, the
newspaper reported.
THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES ALSO are interested in Lee, the newspaper reported.
Sexson, meanwhile, is drawing interest from the San Francisco Giants and
Arizona Diamondbacks, too, the newspaper added.
Sexson, 28, hit .272 with 45 homers and 124 RBIs last season. Sexson's
contract calls for him to make $8.6 million next season in the final year of
his deal.
Lee, who is also 28, made $4.25 million last season. He hit .271 with 31
homers and 92 RBIs and won a Gold Glove.
Perez went 12-12 with a 4.52 ERA last season.
