The Dodgers needed a left handed bat, with power, to support Greenie, and
McGriff came fairly cheaply and while it is stopgap, Crime Dog is a good
addition. The key is the starters being healthy. Dodgers have a formidable
rotaion with Brownie, Dreifort, Ishii and Ashby (all coming off injuries) plus
Perez and Nomo. If they are in form, look out NL West.

Fred McGriff is only a stop gap. He will be there this year and then either
it will be Darryle Ward moved there or someone else or a free agent or
rookie. We shall see. As for the injuries, it doesn't sound good,
especially with Brown.
