I don't know how many of you got to go to the 50th Anniversary
celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. It was amusing, to say the least.
I got to go on July 3rd. Brian Childers was one of the performers and
he performed a song written by Danny Kaye (yes, The Court Jester)
about the Dodgers 1962 Pennant Race. Here's the text of the song:

Here's a youtube vid of the song:

Who knew Kaye was such a Dodgers fan?!
They had a bastardized version of Casey at Bat recorded by Vin Scully
called "Gibby at Bat." It had, of course, a Hollywood fairytale ending...
Randy Newman came out to sang "I Love L.A." and then went on to tell
the audience that he based his opinion of a man on how they threw a
ball. "I lost all respect for Steve McQueen after I saw him throw a
ball," he said! LOL. He went on to conduct the L. A. Philharmonic-a
(as Tommy calls it) in the score for The Natural, which he composed.
They paraded out some old Dodgers - Maury Wills, Tommy Davis - I can't
remember who else and I was surprised Ron Cey didn't show up - he's
everywhere there's a Dodgers get-together!
Did anyone go on Wednesday or Friday? Who else showed up in the
Parade of Dodgers?
