Hi Yoda - I have an NX on which the previous owner, a skilled machinist,
carefully machined out the top of the fork to allow it to accept a narrow
20" wheel. This sounds potentially ugly and hazardous, but isn't the first
and doesn't seem to be the latter. He stated that he did this because he
wanted to use the bike on a tour of the Oregon coast, and didn't want to
have to worry about 2 tire/tube sizes. He experimentally used the 20" wheel
from his Bike Friday on the NX and said that it handled wonderfully.
Unfortunately, all I can report to you is hearsay, as I haven't tried this
myself. I don't have a front 20" wheel with disk brakes to pop in. In the
next week or so I'll try using one from my Vision VR44 and go brakeless in
front (level ground, no high speeds!) just to see. I've meant to do this in
the several years that I've had the bike and just haven't.
