Well, not exactly...

I was looking at BentRiderOnline (add www. and .com) and saw that
last fall there was a new Japanese CLWB bike made by a firm called
Tartaruga. (It doesn't roll off the tongue like BikeE, does it?)

I don't own one & have no ties to the company. Just saw it & these
things reminded me of the BikeE:
- general layout (16" front/20" rear)
- handlebars
- seat
- similarities in frame
- 24 sp (3X8) gearing

Anyhow, they had a picture, and I was really surprised by how much
this design looks like the BikeE. The bike went on sale in Nov for
about $1400 according to B.R.O. Here is the URL where you can see it
for yourself:
http://www.tartaruga-ew.com/products_j_o_bike_r_text1.html

Now it has a lot of writing in Japanese, so I went to
http://world.altavista.com, and they have a place where you can put
the URL in, and it will do a machine translation from Japanese to
English.

I agree, both the general layout and a lot of details are reminiscent of the BikeE. Mainly the frame construction differs. And thanks for the translation link....
