Taking a BikeE on the bus. Lloyd Mardis writes: Here's how to get a BikeE onto a Capital Metro bus rack:1. Turn the steering 180 degrees--makes the wheel base shorter.
2. Put the rear wheel in the well reserved for the front wheel. In other words, use the movable restraining bar over the rear wheel instead of the front.
3. The front wheel still will not fit completely in the other well, but enough so that wrapping a bungee cord through the rim and around the well supports will keep it from inadvertently jumping out.
4. When maneuvering the movable brace over the rear wheel, tilt the bike slightly temporarily toward you so that the brace doesn't strike the derailleur--once in place return the bike to an upright position.
I've used the bus now maybe 20 times and have had no problem. (I do take my flags and panniers off, although I think one could leave the panniers on--I'll have to try that).
