stapling new seat cover   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1578 of 1688 |
I've been trying to recover my seat, stretching new fabric around top and sides,
and attempting to staple the new cover to the bottom, but my attempts are in
vain because the staples will not drive into the plastic bottom--they just
crumple and barely penetrate, not deep enough to hold. I'm puzzled, as I have a
decent stapler [PopwerShot 5700M], which uses staples which look like the
staples on the original seat. I started with 1/2", then 3/8", and finally 1/4"
but the results are the same regardless of size. Any suggestions or helpful
information? Do I need to go to a compressed air driven stapler?
Thanks,
Tom

I just pull a piece of fabric down over the old cover and tie it off with cord. I suppose it looks a little tacky if you crawl under to look at it, but it...
