Many people do not use the tube.  I have not for 10,000 + miles.  I do have chain ring guards which helps keep the chain from jumping on jarring bumps.

I also use the tube.  The chain wobble is worse without it and you are much more likely to have a chain tattoo. You might give Richard's Cyclery a call. ...
