Re: Seat sliders -- hey thanks everyone.

Thank you all for your replies. It is getting tougher finding parts
when you need them. I really do like this Bike-E. I ride my C-dale a
lot more, but sometimes, you just want to relax.

I did find some sliders! Those are from
http://www.bicycleman.com/recumbents/bike_e/bike_e-accessories.htm

Mike, I appreciate your reply, but I thought it a bit truculent.

I don't begrudge a mechanic anything. I am a fat slog today because my
father was a mechanic -- a damn good diesel mechanic. So I really
didn't need a lecture in that department.

I am capable of doing my own repacking, but because of circumstances I
simply don't have the necessary work space in which to do but the
simplest of repairs...that is one reason why I haven't drilled out the
sheared bolt. You should really ask someone about their situation.

Finally, you can keep your information regarding a permanent fix. I
found a couple of approaches to that issue on the Internet and
downloaded some plans.

When I have space, tools and money enough, I might do it myself, or go
to the bike shop that I have dealt with for years. It was they who
suggested just buying a new rim.

And...I did find a new rim today. It is steel, a bit on the heavy
side, but a good quality one, made in Taiwan, just like the rest of
the Bike-E.

Finally, I have found a permanent fix on the problem of the breaking
welds. I have reinforced mine with JB Weld...who knows, I probably
screwed it up someway, but I do feel a lot better that it is somewhat
reinforced.
