Re:Vetta Bike E cyclometer

I bought a used BikeE last year and I had the local bike shop install a cycle computer. But they installed it way too low on the handlebar since that was as far as the wire would reach. I sliced the wire, added some wire, and put the display where I wanted it to be. It worked fine until this year. I was moving the bike and pulled the wire loose. I've decided to go with either the Planet Bike 9.0 Computer or the Sigma BC-906 Computer. They both have a longwire kit. They are both available at poweroncycling.com. I do not have a local bike shop that is an expert with recumbents. I just found the Poweron Cycling web site last week. Anyone else have recommended web sites for recumbent bike riders?

Just splice in some wire. If you can solder that will make the most dependable connections. I almost always splice in a splice of heavier wire when I get a...

The wire is coaxial (small wire inside a conductive outer shield) and is so fine that I found it impossible to work with. I can solder, and have built numerous...

There is no commonality between cabling for these things. What you see on one computer will not be seen on another. After splicing at least 8 different...

Interesting. As I recall, the computer with the coax cable was the Performance Axiom (3C?) - anyway, they have changed models twice since then before changing...

Who knows what else they did then. You could use a pickup made from a two wire hall effect sensor and maybe that requires shielding? Doesn't make sense to me...
