Re: [BikeE] Short Cranks for '98 - '99 CT?

hi Doug
I have not replaced my crank arms on the BikeE but I do run shorter arms on my liner, both trikes ( catrike & wizWheel ) and  low racer. My favorite is the Odyssey but I had the cranks on the WW and Jester shortened. One of the fellows I race with shortened them for me but they ended up being 145 to 148 mm. Years ago, in my wedgee days, I rode with a friend who had one leg short. I made up a jig and cut the crank arm and had it rewedded. It made a great deal of difference in her peddling.
At one time I saw a web sight from a fellow that would shorten cranks for you but the price was very close to the price of the new Odyssey. Look at this web sight and you will find two different manufactures. Dotek $29.99 and Odyssey $ 89.99  http://www.danscomp.com/products.php?cat=PARTS&show=Cranks Both of them come in a variety of links. Among the guys that race streamliners the Odyssey Black Widow cranks we prefer are the 155 mm.

You can get BMX cranks that are short. It might take a little bit of looking. Greenspeed trikes in Australia quoted me $120 US to shorten Sugino triple cranks...

... Doug, The point of short cranks is to go faster and with less wear on you knees. Spinning will help to an extent, but short cranks are proving to be a...
