Hi Gang, and welcome to our 25th year of Biking Around Long Island.
The 2005 schedule has been posted on our website
(
http://hometown.aol.com/gjwbiker). At the end of this year, we'll
be celebrating our first quarter century. No, that's not one fourth
of a 100-mile ride, but 25 years of biking.
Now's the time to treat your bike to a Spring tune-up, so it's ready
to go when you are. Make sure your tires and brakes are good, and
that everything operates smoothly. I like to drop my bike at the
local bike shop each Spring, just to let them give it a once-over.
If you're receiving this email, I'll print out a release form for
you to sign at your first ride this year. This will save you some
writing. If you bring anyone new with you, release forms are
available from our website, and I will have some blanks with me on
each ride.
If you're considering staying in Montauk in June, it isn't too early
to make reservations. Some rooms are booked a year in advance. The
website has some helpful info.
The fun begins on April 2nd, with a ride from my house in Commack to
Sunken Meadow and back. I don't know about you, but after this
winter I need to get out and do some serious preparation for the 5-
Boro Tour that's happening on May 1st.
I look forward to spending another year "on the road again", with my
friends. Let's hope that the only thing wet about our rides is an
occasional beer afterwards.
See you soon.
George.
