Hi Gang, and welcome to our 28th year of Biking Around Long Island.
The 2008 schedule has been posted on our website
(http://www.bikearoundlongisland.com/schedule.htm).
Now's the time to treat your bike to a Spring tune-up, so it's ready to go when you are. Make sure your tires and brakes are good, and that everything operates smoothly. Two spare tubes are recommended. I like to drop my bike at the local bike shop each Spring, just to let them give it a once-over.
Help us avoid delays on the morning of a ride by printing a release form from our website (http://www.bikearoundlongisland.com/signup.htm), and bringing it with you to your first ride.
If you're considering staying in Montauk in June, it isn't too early to make reservations. I've already made mine. Our website offers some helpful Montauk info.
The fun begins on April 5th, with a ride from my house in Commack to Sunken Meadow and back. I don't know about you, but after this winter I need to get out and do some serious preparation for the 5-Boro Tour that's happening on May 4th.
The bike path to Jones Beach, which has had closures over the past 2 years, is expected to be open this year. If anyone has information to the contrary, please let me know.
I look forward to spending another year "on the road again", with my friends. Let's hope that the only thing wet about our rides is an occasional beer afterwards.
See you soon.
George.
