Guys:
Quite a few people who were at the clinic last year came to me later in the season and told me that they had learnt a lot and found the tips very useful. So this really is a worthwhile event, and the participants are eager to learn.
Just yesterday as I was getting out of the water at Padden I was approached by a newbie full of questions. The level of ignorance was almost astonishing; the whole concept of doing the entire race in one set of clothing was novel to him. In other words, it is really easy to do some substantial amount of good ! So I hope lots of you will show up to help.
The one thing I found hard to come to terms with at the clinic last year was the level of the beginners. We tend to make assumptions about what people know and what gear they have, and those assumptions are not really warranted with the audience at the clinic. My advice is to assume almost nothing, and start at the most basic level imaginable.
There were quite a few women last year, and it would be good to see some female 'instructors' again - Kelly helped out last year.
See you there !
