I like to run from the Padden swim area to the radio towers on top of Galbraith. I take the long way around Padden, then the big loop through the woods behind the golf course, and then follow the logging road up the hill. The whole thing is about 15 miles and takes about 2.5 hours. Lots of fairly moderate climbing and downhill; not for the weak-kneed ! It's great in the early morning cool and fresh air, and also on a hot afternoon if you like the sweat to really pour down and you're in the mood to suffer. It also feels good to run easily past the mountain-bikers struggling to ride the long uphill.

Subject: [BhamTri] Long TrailsHi everyone,I am looking to do my longer runs (14, 16, 18, and 20-milers) on trails around the Bellingham area. If I had to, I could run the Interurban twice, the Lake Whatcom Trail (North Shore) three times, or Lake Padden 6-8 times (BORING!), but it would be nice to get some variety into my runs! Does anyone have some favorites that are approximately these distances? I am really trying to stay off the roads for these long guys. Any thoughts - advice - warnings you might have would certainly be appreciated. Thanks,SharonSharon Peachey Sheremeta, Sc.D., FACSM
