>SELF GUIDED IRON AND HALF IRON TRAINING ON GRAND COLUMBIAN COURSE – MAY 22
>&
>23
>Blaine WA April 20, 2004
>
>The Grand Columbian Triathlon is excited to again offer iron and half iron
>triathletes and friends a chance to preview The Grand Columbian Triathlon
>course and train for June/July events such as IMCDA or Pacific Crest. Mark
>your calendars for the weekend of May 22 and 23 at Grand Coulee Dam
>Washington. All who attended the informal training in April had a very
>successful weekend that demonstrated what a fantastic training ground the
>Grand Columbian course makes.
>
>On Saturday May 22 athletes will meet at Coulee Playland Resort, Electric
>City WA at 9:00 AM. From there they will ride the Grand Columbian bike
>course. Due to the two loop configuration triathletes will have the option
>of riding 50, 60, 90 or 108 miles at your training level. The training day
>is an informal event – self directed by all athletes. However, there will
>be water, hydration and gels on the bike route – provided by the Grand
>Coulee Dam Chamber of Commerce. We only ask for you to donate whatever you
>feel comfortable with to the Chamber of Commerce for their volunteer
>support.
>
>On Sunday, May 23 athletes will meet at Melody’s Restaurant Parking Lot in
>Coulee Dam at 9:30 AM and go for a run on the 12.5 mile out and back course
>along the Columbia River. There will be an interesting hill challenge for
>those who would like to go longer. This will be fun chance to train and
>get
>to know the course. Pancake flat and gravel path. Water and hydration will
>be provided.
>This is a great opportunity to get a quality solid workout in when most
>need
>to peak for June events and/or eventually prepare for The Grand Columbian
>Triathlon.
>
>We suggest making reservations at The Columbia River Inn
>www.columbiariverinn.com for the weekend. Exceptional camping is possible
>at
>Coulee Playland Resort, Sun Banks Resort or Steamboat Rock State Park.
>E-mail us at info@... if you have questions.
>Accommodations and area information can be obtained at
>www.grandcouleedam.org. It would be helpful if athletes coming for the
>weekend notify us at info@... or (360) 325-0715 in order
>to prepare enough support.
