Re: [BerkshireNEMBA] TOPIC FOR NEMBA MEETING?

Brad, you and Mike are on the agenda so you could touch on this issue but the best way to keep them off is to make them unfriendly with twists and turns and between narrow openings. Ruth

Subject: [BerkshireNEMBA] TOPIC FOR NEMBA MEETING?

One thing I've brought up a few times with the DCR and have received
almost no feedback on is - coming up with a plan to protect the new
trails from motorized use.

Becky did provide me with the EPO telephone number, but I think when
we build these new trails (Turner and open up Blair Witch), we should
have a pretty definite plan on discouraging, monitoring and catching
ATV use.

The only ideas I have really are:

1. Signage on entrances to every non-motorized usage trail -
specifically stating something like:

BLAIR WITCH TRAIL

NON-MOTORIZED USE ONLY
STRICTLY ENFORCED

PLEASE REPORT VIOLATIONS
IMMEDIATELY TO ENVIRONMENTAL
POLICE AT 800-632-8075

2. Make trails and entrances to trails difficult for ATV's.

3. Electronic Video Monitoring (preferably by the EPO's).

I think the best thing for them to do is setup some of these:

uyers_guide/pages/hardgoods/archery/gamecameras_414954.html

Many of these timestamp the pictures so the EPO could get a good
idea of when trails were being used and setup...

4. Sting operations!
