Fellow Riders: Did the Marymoor - Gold Gardens ride yesterday. Nice ride, but
caught a coooold tail wind on the flip-flop coming back to the B Locks.

Found that they have finally opened the Burke Gillman Playground restrooms just
off the Burke Gillman Trail near Metropolitan Market and Ronald Mc Donald House.
Not sure if they lock up at night.

Came back throuh Kenmore / Log Boom Park around 09:30PM and the Restrooms were
still open ... don't know if they are leaving them open later or I just got
lucky. In all fairness, Kenmore had chronic probs with vandalism at the old
restroom so I can't really blame 'em for locking up.

Nice article on Bike Safety in the S Times NW Living this AM.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2009270653_bikewise28m0.html

Highlights: There is a web site called Bikewise.org that maps Bike Thefts,
Hazards, and Accidents in Seattle area. Content is based on voluntary reporting
so please do.

I went out to the site and looked at the Bikewise map tonight. The greatest
concentration of Bike Thefts is in the U District. No surprise there. The
greatest concentration of accidents ... at least as it relates to my Marymoor to
Gold Gardens rides ... is ... West Fremont / East Ballard area. And they are
mostly solo crashss. Riders into Rails. As in Railroad Tracks.

I've certainly seen a number of Peter Pans into the tracks out there, either
riding parallel or crossing the tracks, especially near the Ballard Bridge
approach. Especially when wet. I've wabbled a few times myself, but not
splattered. I did blow a tire ... yeh, the tire, not just the tube, in broken
glass same location last year.

As far as road hazards go, you can still call Seattle City at 684-ROAD to report
a road hazard, but it would be great if you can help other riders know where the
dragons are too.

Happy Trails,

Bill
