Fellow Riders: I do the Marymoor to Golden Gardens RT on the
Sammamish and Burke Gillman Trails 1-2 times a week. Appreciate the
scenary, absence of cars, and ... the availability of public
bathrooms. Usually very predictable.
But
Losta surprises on both Trails on my ride on Sat 1/3. No clear
indication of closures being for the week or the season unless noted.
Starting from Marymoor at the beginning of the Sammamish River Trail
and ending at the Burke Gillman Trail end / Golden Gardens Park in
Ballard:
* Marymoor Park / Sammamish River Trail trailhead in Redmond bathrooms
were open. Usually closed in winter. Surprise.
* 60 Acres Park (near 124th St) in Redmond bathrooms are closed as
usual in winter. One portable.
* Northshore Athletic Field (145th St / Hollywood / Red Hook) area
bathrooms were closed. Unusual. Usually open 24x 7. No notice of
duration. No portables.
* Greg Wimot Park bathrooms in Woodenville are open daytime only. No
portables. Usual year round.
* Log Boom Park in Kenmore / Lake Forest bathrooms have been under
reconstruction forever. Still closed. 2 portables.
* Mathews Beach City Park in Inverness / Magnuson Park area bathrooms
are closed. New. Surprise. Posted closed for season. No portables.
* Burke Gillman Park in Windermere / U District area (kinda
hidden off trail near Metro Market and Ronald McDonald House)
bathrooms are closed. No notice of duration. No portables. Not sure
what is usual.
* Gasworks Park in Wallingford bathrooms were closed. Locked up tight.
For real! No notice of duration. Just for New Years?? No portables.
* Golden Gardens Park in Ballard bathrooms were open. Two new portables.
All this adds to the fun of hydration planning on 6-7 hour rides.
Happy Trails,
Bill
