Re: [BentPacNW] Re: PowerGrip straps/pedals vs clips
Mark,
For hydration packs, talk to the very good folks at TerraCycle in Portland (www.terracycle.com). They have a product called the FastBack hydration system. It straps on behind the seat and holds a 2 or 3 liter Nalgene bladder. A well-made product, and great customer service.
If you trike has bottle cage bosses on the boom like the Catrike does, I would recommend another product from TerraCycle, the CatCage (they don't make it, they just sell it). It's a water bottle cage that can be mounted three different ways, allowing you to grab the bottle from the left, right, or to simply lift it out—without having to pull the water bottle waaaay forward to clear the cage.
Hey John - I'm clipped and ready to ride! Thanks! Took the 10 mile run today to work (1/2 of my planned commute) and even though it was a workout (and raining in the early am - drat!) it's all good.
I could use ideas for signals, mirrors, panniers, bike computers, etc. I found my old Sigma computer from years ago...gotta get new batteries & see if it powers up.
I'm basically jury rigging anything I can make work. I used a regular upwrong tail bike rack which just didn't want to stay in place very well on the tike while holding my pack on the way in.... Anybody use hydration packs while they ride?
Tomorrow is supposed to get to 90 & I've got 20-40 rural to urban miles to get in (practice, practice, practice...).

Hello All - My recumbent trike came with SPD hybrid clipless pedals, but as yet I have no shoes, so I'm thinking powergrip straps for my hybrid pedals. What's...

Being clipped in is a must. Power Grips would probably work, but any clipless pedal will be quicker to get into and will probably be more secure. My...
Mark: Yes, as Bill says, being clipped in is pretty much required on a 'bent. I have a pair of Lakes sandals that I just don't use any more - what size do you...
Hi John - thanks for the nice offer. I'm apparently a size 43/44, as I just tried some SPD sandals at my lcoal LBS and the 41/42 were too small. It only took...

Great Info - Thanks for the links. After 40 miles on Friday last week, I felt my left foot (clipped in) go a bit numb at the cleat on my Lake Sandals. This is...
Haven't tried the PowerGrips, but they won't do a whole lot to keep your feet from slipping down the pedals on a trike. SPDs worked well enough for me for my...
Thanks for the info, Mike. I had been told by folks who should know that the "canted" nature of the PowerGrip straps attachment to the pddals does a really...
I find Power Grips fussy to get into. It might be easier on a recumbent trike, since 1) you're not going to fall over, and B) you can see your feet. Some...
