Subject: [BentPacNW] PowerGrip straps/pedals vs clips
Hello All - My recumbent trike came with SPD hybrid clipless pedals, but as yet I have no shoes, so I'm thinking powergrip straps for my hybrid pedals. What's your experience with getting clipped in? I can't imagine any long distance on a recumbent without doing something, and one large bump the other day (luckily thought to lift my feet up off both pedals & brake) convinced me that I've got to get something very quickly (my local LBS was out of PowerGrip straps). Looking at Lake Sandals or SPD sandals for my clipless pedals.

Being clipped in is a must. Power Grips would probably work, but any clipless pedal will be quicker to get into and will probably be more secure. My...
Mark: Yes, as Bill says, being clipped in is pretty much required on a 'bent. I have a pair of Lakes sandals that I just don't use any more - what size do you...

Great Info - Thanks for the links. After 40 miles on Friday last week, I felt my left foot (clipped in) go a bit numb at the cleat on my Lake Sandals. This is...
Haven't tried the PowerGrips, but they won't do a whole lot to keep your feet from slipping down the pedals on a trike. SPDs worked well enough for me for my...
Thanks for the info, Mike. I had been told by folks who should know that the "canted" nature of the PowerGrip straps attachment to the pddals does a really...
I find Power Grips fussy to get into. It might be easier on a recumbent trike, since 1) you're not going to fall over, and B) you can see your feet. Some...
