What I can I say guys? Words fail me and has done so ever since Dashan (first-time Dashan called in PNG) called me at around 5:30pm (PNG Time) to tell me that we were now running onto the field for the Grandfinal against Shanghai. My attempts to get more infor from him were shut with the simple...."Mr Ako, I have to go my units are finishing.....will call you in 1 hours time. Well bro Dashan, you made my Saturday sooooo gooood when your call again (second time in history Dashan called me in PNG from CHina). Immediately again, Liza calls, crying tears of joy together with Mrs Ako as we could hear jubilation and triumph in the back ground. Also Bill called right after Liza. In fact, this was also the very first time too Bill Tomon called me from China...Infact, we must have talked for 20 minutes because the phone was also given to Sam
Walsh (from the devils) and Sam ony had praises for you all, guys,...so congratulations for the win.
It was a night to remember and a night of shedding tears of joy as these tears were shedded in between calls - as the international airwaves between China, PNG, and Tonga continued for another hour or so with the simple message....we won, we won, we won!!!!!!!
I for one just sat stunned blindly watching the Beijing Xiongdi RFU 2007 summary DVD imagining what was going on that very moment in Beijing as my brothers celebrated.
You all have done the club proud because this win has simply made us come of age.....we are in fact, the RUGBY CLUB CHAMPIONS OF CHINA!
But remember also, that it was because of our belief in God that we beat the impossible....so DONT FORGET THAT.
Anyway guys, keep it up and like POU said, whether the DEFENCE RFU Proposed tour to China eventuates or not, I will be in Beijing for the final Beijing Cup match to formally hang my boots forever, (and God willing, to celebrate the winning of the 2009 Berijing Cup!) so save some celebrations for me, please!!!!
