Hello everyone! I have the Week 9 standings for you. I can't believe that we are halfway through this season all ready. We have 8 more weeks in the regular season and 5 weeks in the playoffs (includes Pro Bowl this season). Anyways, I have done the standings and none of you got above 10 this week. I also updated the bonus points to include the World Series and UFL games. I am thinking next year that we will do a seperate pick'em for both UFL and MLB playoffs as part of the changes that I am going to make if I am given the green light to run the JL Pick'em leagues next year in addition to Beat Mike. Also next year, I am thinking about making a return to the NASCAR league and run a league for NASCAR starting in February and starting in early September, I think I will run a college pick'em league again and this time, the college pick'em league champion will not be crowned until after all of the bowl games are played (similiar to Beat Mike on how we do not crown the champion until the Superbowl). Here we go. The Week 9 standings:

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 10! I got some news for you and I would like your opinion on it. See NEWS section for that. Anyways, as most of you know, Veterans Day (Remembrance Day in Canada) is on Wednesday. Fox did their Week 9 pre game show from Afghanistan. This is the first time that I have done a week dedicated to our veterans and those who are serving our country in the military. We thank you for all you do to protect us and to allow us to have our freedom. On Wednesday, everyone that is in the military or everyone that has served in the military is able to eat for free at Applebee’s restaurants all over the country. Also, beginning this week, we have Thursday night football! Remember that your Thursday night picks are due on Thursday and the rest of the games can be submitted on Sunday before the games start.
Here we go with the games for Week 10! The UFL games will follow:
NFL:
Chicago @ San Francisco (THURSDAY NIGHT; NFL Network)
Atlanta @ Carolina (Fox)
New Orleans @ St. Louis (Fox)

NEWS:
1. Week 9 standings, including the bonus picks from the World Series and UFL will be released on Tuesday.
2. Congrats to all of you that have picked the New York Yankees to win the World Series.
3. Here’s the news that I have wanted to tell you. I received an e-mail from Jon Parrish, the president of JL saying that he is planning to cut back on some of his fantasy teams and duties. I am currently talking to him about running his pick’em leagues starting next year. If this goes through, then everyone who plays in JL NFL Challenge will be joining us and playing Beat Mike with us. It will be a great experience to have some new comers in our game. There might be some changes, but I will try to keep everything the way it is now. I might have to run two pick’em leagues on Yahoo! & everyone that plays in that league will also be members of Beat Mike and their standings will be included in the Beat Mike standings. I know that there are some of you who are in the JL and I would like to get your opinion on what should I do next year if this goes through.
4. I invite you to join Orlando 183 of NAFCA & Good Sam. Please go to orlando183nafca.tripod.com if you are interested in joining. I also encourage you to become a member of NAFCA and/or Good Sam so that you can also enjoy some of the benefits and do their outings as well!
5. If you do not get Versus or HDNet with your cable or satellite provider, then you can go to www.getufl.com and click on schedule to watch the football games. That is also the web site that you can go and get the schedule of games. I watched the Thursday night game on Versus and it was a pretty good game! I recommend the UFL to anyone that is looking for a football craving during the middle of the week!
Good Luck in Week 10! God Bless America!

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 9! I hope that Halloween was good for you. This has not been a good week for me. So far, I only got 5 picks correct out of 12 and this doesn’t include the MNF game in New Orleans. I think the NFL tricked me this week! I do hope that MNF will give me a treat to watch. In addition, my team in the MFL lost to The Evil Genius and has lost both games vs. them this year and they are the first team in my division to ever sweep my team. I can only say that I hope that Week 9 will be a better week for my picks and my MFL team. Anyways, I decided to send this newsletter out early because there is no Sunday Night Football and I got bored watching the World Series and the UCF football game. Also, there is only one UFL game this week and it is being played on Wednesday night this week. In other news, I got a letter from the girl that I am seeing and I have not opened it yet because I am too nervous to do so. I have not cared about anyone like that before and I do not know how these things work.
Here we go with the games for Week 9! The UFL game will follow:
NFL:
Baltimore @ Cincinnati (CBS)
Arizona @ Chicago (Fox)
Washington @ Atlanta (Fox)
Green Bay @ Tampa Bay (Fox)
Miami @ New England (CBS)
Kansas City @ Jacksonville (CBS)
Houston @ Indianapolis (CBS)

Detroit @ Seattle (Fox)
Tennessee @ San Francisco (CBS)
San Diego @ New York Giants (CBS)

DEADLINE: Sunday, November 8 @ 12:55PM ET
UFL:

OPEN DATE: California Redwoods & Florida Tuskers
DEADLINE: Wednesday, November 4 @ 6:55PM ET
NEWS:
1. Week 8 standings will be released after the World Series is over.
2. I have decided to cancel the events scheduled for December 13 & January 3 regarding the group outing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers games because I did not get a lot of interest.
3. If your city or town is having an election on Tuesday, please make sure that you come on out and vote! Your vote does count, especially for the Mayor race in Agawam, MA.
4. I invite you to join Orlando 183 of NAFCA & Good Sam. Please go to orlando183nafca.tripod.com if you are interested in joining. I also encourage you to become a member of NAFCA and/or Good Sam so that you can also enjoy some of the benefits and do their outings as well!

That is also the web site that you can go and get the schedule of games. I watched the Thursday night game on Versus and it was a pretty good game! I recommend the UFL to anyone that is looking for a football craving during the middle of the week!
6. I noticed that some of you tried to pick a winner from the teams that were on the “OPEN DATE” list. If a team has “OPEN DATE”, that means the team is on a bye and are not playing that week. I noticed a few of you did that on UFL Week 3/BMN Week 7.
Good Luck in Week 9!

Hello everyone! I have done the Week 7 standings and this week, nobody got more than 10 right. I just looked at the weather forecast for New York City for game 1 tonight and there is a chance of showers for tonight. Not sure if game 1 will go on or not. In the event that game 1 gets postponed until tomorrow, your World Series bonus pick will still be due by the start of the game tomorrow. I have a feeling that game 1 will be played tonight. Also, I might hold off on sending the Week 8 standings until the World Series end, to include the bonus picks from the World Series. I hope the World Series end by Sunday or Monday, however! Hello everyone and welcome to Week 8! What a wild and crazy week in the NFL for Week 7. Most of the games were blowouts and there were a few great close games as well. I was also glad that the ALCS finally got finished so that I could count up the baseball picks. There will be a World Series pick in this newsletter. I know for most New England fans, it was not a great time to see the New York Yankees in their 40th World Series. The Philadelphia Phillies, meanwhile, will be in their second straight World Series. I will get the standings done and send them tomorrow.
Here we go with the games for Week 8! The UFL games and World Series will follow:

1. Thanks to everyone that walked in the Rays of Hope walk on yesterday at Forest Park in Springfield.
2. Week 7 standings will be released tomorrow (Tuesday)!
3. If you are interested in seeing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Jets on December 13 or Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons on January 3, please let me know! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers invited us (BMN) to go to one of their games. I think the tickets were $65 per person according to the paperwork! I have also invited Orlando 183 of NAFCA to come along to the game. For those of you that are reading the newsletter via the Bleacher Report and would like to join the camping club, please go to http://Orlando183NAFCA.tripod.com.

Well folks! I did the Week 6 standings! The baseball bonus picks are not counted this week. They will be counted next week. Also, I think I forgot to put in red text which games are legacy games this week. San Diego @ Kansas City and New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders are the legacy games this week in the 50th season of the AFL. In the UFL, FL and CA won last week. Both of those teams will play each other on Thursday. For the most part, the standings were good, but not that many people got above 10. Only one person got an 11 and that was the highest score this week. Here's the standings from Week 6 (remember, bonus points will be added into the total after the UFL championship game and the Grey Cup):

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 7! Well, I survived the wedding! It was a great day for Ann Marie & Chris to get married. 141 people attended the wedding. If you have Facebook, you can view the pictures on there. If you do not have me as one of your friends on Facebook, you can add me! The photos came out great! They will be spending the honeymoon at Disney World and I can’t believe that I will not be working there when they arrive! Don’t you worry my Florida friends! I will be going back down there in mid-December. Anyways, I did take some notes from the wedding to see what I could do for my wedding someday (hopefully in 2012). It is true that I am seeing someone. She works at Disney also (but over at the Emporium at the Magic Kingdom). I wrote her a letter and sent it last week to her and I told her how I feel about her. Her name is Amanda and she is a great person. I think she does care about me and she feels the same way about it. I met her at the autism support group in July. I met her and another girl, Paige. We had a fun time going to the parks a few time. Anyways, I think I will ask Amanda out on a date when I get down there in December. I hope this works out for me because I really found someone great and it’s time for me to have someone in my life!
Here we go with the games for Week 7! The UFL game will follow. There is no baseball picks for Week 7. The baseball picks from Week 6 will be included in the Week 7 standings.

1. The NFL is helping out with their push for Breast Cancer Awareness. Even though the official charity of the BMN is Autism Speaks, we will help spread the word on Breast Cancer Awareness this week, as the Rays of Hope walk is on October 25 at Forest Park in Springfield. The newsletter as you can see is in pink text, except for the two AFL legacy games, where there will be listed in red text.
2. I will be walking in the Rays of Hope walk on Sunday at Forest Park in Springfield to make up for the walk that I missed on September 26 at Stanley Park in Westfield.
3. In Week 8, the newsletter will be in orange and black for Halloween, just to give you a heads up.
4. Week 6 standings will be released tomorrow (Tuesday)!
5. Did you all see the Patriots game yesterday? There were several records broken. There were 35 points in the second quarter alone and 45 points in the first half alone. 59-0 is the largest shutout since 1976. Patriots went to 4-2 and Tennessee is still winless.
6. At least I was able to get the standings done today before the hectic time of Ann Marie's wedding on Saturday. I'll make sure to do my picks before I leave for the wedding Friday afternoon, lol! Please note on the standings, I did not add in the bonus points. The totals are without the bonus points. I did, however, make a seperate column for the bonus points. Hello everyone and welcome to Week 6. I told you on Week 5 that I would send the newsletter for Week 6 early. A couple of reasons why: A. one of the UFL games is on Wednesday night this week. B. Ann Marie’s wedding is on Saturday and I need to get stuff done before I leave on Friday afternoon for her wedding. It’s a busy time for sure in the DiMauro household. I have never been to a wedding before and I am sure that this will be a good experience for me to attend. I can feel that the day will go smoothly, but need to get through this rocky road first.
I have made the decision that Week 6 will be known as Autism Awareness Week for Beat Mike. I had the choice of either choosing this week (because of the Boston walk) or Week 10 (because of the Orlando walk) and I chose this week. Normally, April is Autism Awareness Month, but since that is when the NFL has their off-season during that month that I decided to do a week during the season to make you aware. Strange enough, however, the three walks that BMN sponsors a team; the walks take place during the football season. Go figure, huh? Anyways, I will not go into depth with the information, but there are a few questions and answers that you can read from. What is Autism? Autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders known as Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD). The other pervasive developmental disorders are PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified), Asperger's Syndrome, Rett Syndrome and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. Many parents and professionals refer to this group as Autism Spectrum Disorders. How common is Autism? Today, it is estimated that one in every 150 children is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. An estimated 1.5 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide are affected by autism. Government statistics suggest the prevalence rate of autism is increasing 10-17 percent annually. There is not established explanation for thi
s increase, although improved diagnosis and environmental influences are two reasons often considered. Studies suggest boys are more likely than girls to develop autism and receive the diagnosis three to four times more frequently. Current estimates are that in the United States alone, one out of 94 boys are diagnosed with autism. For the rest of the answers, you can go to www.autismspeaks.org. Other fact, one of the racers on the Amazing Race, Zev Glassenberg, has Asperger’s Syndrome. Another person, John Elder Robison, wrote the book, Look Me in the Eye, a book that deals with when he was growing up with Asperger’s Syndrome and the problems that he and his family faced. It is a great book and if you have not read the book, I do recommend it! Another person, Mike DiMauro, the president and founder of both the Beat Mike Network and Orlando 183 of NAFCA, has Asperger’s Syndrome. We are still taking donations for our walk teams. The walks that BMN sponsors a team are Western New England, Boston and Orlando. When you go on the walk page, please either type in Mike DiMauro or go to team listing and look up Mike’s PALS.
Here we go with the games f
or Week 6! Your bonus chances will follow and each set of games will have a deadline (like in Week 5), so please read the deadlines carefully!

NEWS:
1. When doing your baseball picks, please be aware that Philadelphia and Colorado will still be playing in the series on Monday and if necessary, Tuesday. The winner of that game will play the Los Angeles Dodgers.
2. The NFL is helping out with their push for Breast Cancer Awareness. Even though the official charity of the BMN is Autism Speaks, we will help spread the word on Breast Cancer Awareness next week, as the Rays of Hope walk is on October 25 at Forest Park in Springfield. The newsletter will be in pink text for that week, except for the two AFL legacy games, where there will be listed in red text.
3. If you are interested in seeing the Tam
pa Bay Buccaneers vs.
Good Luck in Week 6! Yes folks, I will be here for Week 7, if I can survive the wedding, lol!

Hello everyone! I am sorry that I got these out late, but it has been busy. I had a paper that was due yesterday and getting ready for Ann Marie's wedding. Not so fun! I have also been getting stressed out about returning to my parents house to live in Massachusetts. I think next week, you'll see me busy also. I am still planning to send out the Week 6 newsletter either after the Sunday Night game or sometime on Monday. Let's hope that the ALDS and the NLDS finish up by then! That would be nice! Hello everyone and welcome to Week 5. I am sorry for sending you the newsletter on Monday this week, but there are a lot of bonus chances for you that you can take a part of that need to get done before Sunday. I also needed to send the newsletter out early this week because I have a very important essay that I need to work on that is due for one of my classes by Tuesday at 4PM ET. Please note that the Week 6 newsletter will also be sent out early because I will need to prepare the rest of that week for my sister, Ann Marie because she is getting married on October 17.
As you can see and you knew about this when I messaged you on Facebook on Thursday that season 2 Beat Mike champion and 2007 BMN Hall of Fame member Jay Noyes passed away in February 2009. I just got the news this past week on the passing of this great player. He played Beat Mike from 1999 to 2003. I know that when he played, he would always pick the New York Giants to win and any other team that was on that half of the paper. So, if the Giants were at home, he would pick every home team. If the Giants were away, he would pick every away team. I believe that he was 24 years old when he died. If you have any information regarding the passing of Jay Noyes and any other facts (such as birthday and the day that he died) please let me know. I would like to do a tribute page on him on my website. Rest in peace Jay Noyes.
Here we go with the games! Your bonus chances will follow and each set of games will have a deadline, so please read the deadlines carefully!

NEWS:
1. I know that I announced on Tuesday that BMN would endorse Rio de Janerio to host the 2016 games. On October 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark, it was announced that Rio de Janerio would host the 2016 games. Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting.
2. When doing your baseball picks, please be aware that Detroit and Minnesota will have a playoff game on Tuesday to see who would win the AL Central. The winner of that game will play the New York Yankees.
3. Speaking of baseball picks, your picks will be counted in the week that they finish. For example, if they finish on October 14, then the points would go towards the Week 6 standings. See note #4 for more.
4. Speaking of bonus points, I will create a separate column for the bonus points that you score throughout the season.
5. The NFL is helping20out with their push for Breast Cancer Awareness. Even though the official charity of the BMN is Autism Speaks, we will help spread the word on Breast Cancer Awareness in Week 7, as the Rays of Hope walk is on October 25 at Forest Park in Springfield. The newsletter will be in pink text for that week, except for the two AFL legacy games, where there will be listed in red text.
6. In addition to having Breast Cancer Awareness week in Week 7, we will also do Autism Awareness week on Week 6 or 10, as the Boston walk is on October 18 and the Orlando walk is on November 14. One of those weeks will be Autism Awareness week. I understand that Autism Awareness month is in April, but the NFL has their offseason then and the walks that BMN sponsors teams are in the fall.
7. As you may notice, there are only four teams listed for the UFL games. That’s because there are only four teams playing this season in the UFL. If the UFL plays in 2010, then they will expand to 6 or 8 teams, with Hartford and Los Angeles as possible expansion teams. The California Redwoods are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Florida Tuskers are located in Orlando. The other two teams are located in New York and Las Vegas, as their team name suggests. /o:p>

NEWS:
1. I do apologize for not including the standings in the newsletter, but I needed to get the newsletter out ASAP.
2. I was sent an e-mail today from someone that represented the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to see if I wanted to plan a group trip to Tampa to see the Buccaneers take on the New York Jets on December 13. I think I would like to plan the group outing and I was just wondering if people would be interested in seeing the football game. If we can't do that, about the Buccaneers and Falcons on January 3? If you are interested in going to either one of these games, please let me know.
3. Just a reminder, I will be doing United Football League picks starting next week and these picks can help you get bonus points towards your final standings. That will be the same for the MLB playoffs. I think for the MLB playoffs, I will do it round by round.
4. The 2016 Olympics selection will be on October 2 in Denmark. Chicago is the city from the USA that will be respented. Unfortunely, BMN has endorsed Rio de Janerio, Brazil to be the host of the 2016 games because South America has not hosted an Olympics and I would like to see them win the bid.
Good Luck in Week 4!

Hello everyone! I would like to welcome you to Week 4 of Beat Mike. You will be getting this newsletter in the early morning hours of Tuesday because the time that I normally do the newsletter is when the power will be out for a house project. Speaking of power, it seems like most of you got that power back for week 3 because all of the scores have been excellent, most of them 10 or above. I think this week will be better than last week for me. My goal for this fall is to go to school and finish up the semester, then hopefully I can make that permanent move to Florida. I hope to get a laptop before I go so that I can send you the BMN newsletters each week. I have some news regarding next weeks picks coming up in the NEWS section that you want to pay attention to. But now, here's the games for Week 4:
Tampa Bay @ Washington (Fox)
New York Giants @ Kansas City (Fox)
Seattle @ Indianapolis (Fox)
Cincinnati @ Cleveland (CBS)
Oakland @ Houston (CBS)
Tennessee @ Jacksonville (CBS)
Detroit @ Chicago (Fox)
Baltimore @ New England (CBS)
Buffalo @ Miami (CBS)
New York Jets @ New Orleans (CBS)
St. Louis @ San Francisco (Fox)
Dallas @ Denver (Fox)
San Diego @ Pittsburgh (NBC)
Green Bay @ Minnesota (ESPN; MONDAY NIGHT)
OPEN DATE: Arizona, Atlanta, Carolina, Philadelphia
DEADLINE: Sunday, October 4 @ 12:55PM ET
NEWS:
1. Starting next week and going up to November 27, you can have a shot of getting some bonus points each week. I am going to offer you a chance to pick the UFL games each week. There will be a max. of 2 games each week, since there are only four teams in the league. Those of you that play on Yahoo, can message me or e-mail me your bonus picks. When I do that schedule on here, their games will be listed in green or different color text (not red because of the AFL legacy games).
2. Speaking of bonus picks, I will be doing the World Series pick'em again this year and you can have a chance to make some bonus points there. I think I will start with the LDS and go onto the LCS and then the World Series and that will be one point per series that you pick correctly on. There might be a seperate newsletter for that when it comes out and like with the UFL picks, Yahoo Pick'em users, you can either e-mail me your picks or message them to me. Thanks!
3. I would like to thank you all that came to Stanley Park this weekend for the Autism walk! I am sorry I could not make it, but I have another committment that I needed to attend to.
Good Luck in Week 4

Hello everyone. I would like to thank you all for your patience with me this year for Beat Mike and the problems that have caused this season to be crazy for me. As most of you know, I did not have a copy of my picks saved in the Yahoo! league and wondering why I still got points for Week 2. I got the points because even though I didn't click save because I forgot to, I still played in my other leagues and I also had the picks written down on paper. My picks for Week 2 are still counted because at the end, it's not the Yahoo! league that determines the champion of BMN Bowl XI. It's you folks with your picks! Secondly, as you heard, I had to delete an owner from one of my fantasy football leagues because of a problem that involved an unbalanced trade. The search is to find a new owner for that team. I think another problem I have been having this season was trying to recruit more players to play Beat Mike and that has not been happening, even when I expanded the Playoffs to 32 people from 16 people because of the Pro Bowl. I hope that some of you that have not played in the first two weeks will consider playing the rest of the season because the season is not over yet and you will still have a chance to make the playoffs.
As most of you know, I had to go back to Massachusetts from Florida last month and I am still trying to get my life figured out. It has not been fun living in Massachusetts under my parents roof again. That and I do not even have a job that I can find so that I could work part time while going to school at Westfield State College. It's been very stressful for me to go to school and live the life that I am living right now. It feels like the fall of 2007 all over again where I lost a childhood friend, Josh, to a fight and trying to struggle through that. I also got low marks in school (all C's) and was placed on academic probation for the spring 2008 semester. I was happy when I saw and read the information about the Disney College Program that I was very happy and was glad to be down there for almost 13 months. I felt sad and uncomfortable going back to Massachusetts. I am trying to explore my options so that I can be back in Florida for the spring of 2010. I know that my camping friends and my family was happy to see me back in Massachusetts, but I was not happy to be back in Massachusetts.
I would like to announce that I will still run Beat Mike and the MFL for the rest of the season and hope to do it again for season 12 for Beat Mike and season 6 for MFL.
Also, I would like to announce that I will be adding the United Football League (UFL) games into the pick'em game starting on October 5 (week 5's newsletter) and I hope that it can help you get some extra bonus points. There are only 4 teams in the UFL and they only play until November 27. I think each team plays 6 out of 7 weeks and then they have a championship team. The teams are located in New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and San Francisco. I know they have the Orlando team playing the New York team in Hartford, CT on November 14. More information on that in the Week 4 and Week 5 newsletters.
Thank You!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Week 3. That was a crazy week in the NFL, huh? As I was doing the standings, I noticed that most of you got below 10 right. For most, this week has not been a good week. Also, I noticed this on Sunday, but my picks did not copy from one of the leagues that I belonged to on Yahoo! to my own league on Yahoo! Despite the fact that I did play, my picks will count this week because I did play in the other league & on WBZtv.com and I do have a copy of my picks written on paper. Remember this everyone, our season does not end on Week 17, like everyone else. Our season has 5 more weeks and this includes the Pro Bowl (yes, the Pro Bowl is before the Superbowl and it will count). Just because you play by Yahoo!, Facebook or e-mail, does not mean that you are the winner by Week 17. I include everyone that plays the game, no matter what form they play and we have our playoffs during the NFL playoffs (including Pro Bowl). I am hoping that Week 3 will be better for everyone! Let's play Week 3:
Cleveland @ Baltimore (CBS)
Atlanta @ New England (Fox)
San Francisco @ Minnesota (Fox)
Jacksonville @ Houston (CBS)
Tennessee @ New York Jets (CBS)
Kansas City @ Philadelphia (CBS)
Green Bay @ St. Louis (Fox)
New York Giants @ Tampa Bay (Fox)
Washington @ Detroit (Fox)
New Orleans @ Buffalo (Fox)
Chicago @ Seattle (Fox)
Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati (CBS)
Miami @ San Diego (CBS)
Denver @ Oakland (CBS)
Indianapolis @ Arizona (NBC)
Carolina @ Dallas (ESPN; MONDAY NIGHT)
Deadline: Sunday, September 27 @ 12:55PM ET
NOTE #1: The TN-NYJ game was supposed to be played at 4:15PM ET, but it will be played at 1PM ET because of the start of Yom Kippur.
NOTE #2: The TN-NYJ game is in red text because it is going to be an AFL Legacy Game to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the AFL.
NEWS:
1. Remember folks, this Saturday is the Walk Now for Autism at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA. If you wish to walk, please e-mail me at mikedimauro31784@... or my co-captain, Jessie Williams at jessiencandles@.... Our team is called Mike's Pals. We will also have walk teams for October 18 at Suffolk Downs in Boston and November 14 at Cranes Root Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.
2. IT IS NOT TOO LATE FOR you to play Beat Mike or to have your friends to play Beat Mike. I am still allowing people to play Beat Mike and since we have below 32 players, we will have everyone in the playoffs, unless the total number of players go up to 48.

Hello everyone! I want to welcome you to week 2 of Beat Mike. Thursday Night Football was exciting. Both games of Monday Night Football were exciting to watch also. What a kickoff week! I did the standings and most of you did pretty well! Most of you got more than 10 picks correct. The highest number was 15 picks correct. I hope that Week 2 will be exciting as Week 1 was. Those of you that did not play in Week 1, it is not too late to join in the game!
Week 2 will be dedicated to a man that worked at Westfield State College and many other committees in the City of Westfield. He also helped form Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 of NAFCA in 1960. It was at his living room in Westfield where the chapter was formed. He was a charter member of the chapter. He would be PV8 Treasurer on and off for almost 40 years and he would help out at the Springfield RV Camping & Outdoor Show every year. The person that I am talking about is James Kenneth Taylor, or as most people knew him, Ken Taylor. We will all miss you Ken. To tell you the truth, if I got Orlando 183 (and I still want to) to become a NAFCA chapter, that I would offer him a lifetime membership in the chapter. If you want to join NAFCA, you can go to www.nafca.org. You do not have to be from New England to join. You do not have to be from North America to join. You can join no matter where you are in the world. For Ken's obit, you can go here: http://obits.masslive.com/obituaries/masslive/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=132572739.

NOTES:
1. Just to let you all know, if you did not play in Week 1, it is NOT too late to join in and play. The more people that play, the more competitive the game will be, especially when it comes to the playoffs.
2. Normally I would send the standings in a seperate e-mail, but for this week and any week that I send out the newsletter on a Tuesday, you will get the standings with the e-mail.
3. On September 26, BMN will sponsor the MIke's PALS walk team for the Walk Now for Autism walk at Stanley Park in Westfield. On October 18, there will be a walk at Suffolk Downs in Boston and November 14, there will be a walk in Altamonte Springs, FL. If you want to join any of these teams, please let me know.
Good Luck in Week 2!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the 11th season of Beat Mike. Can't believe it seemed like just yesterday when Beat Mike crowned WP as the winner of BMN Bowl X in Tampa. It also seemed like yesterday when I sent my first newsletter of season 10 from my apartment (Chatham 16303) that I shared with Justin and Travis and the other person at the time that I will not say who that person is. Anyways, I know that this will be a great season for everyone, whether this is your first year of playing the game or the 11th year of playing the game. Unfortunely, I am not in Central Florida anymore. I am back in Massachusetts. I will be in Massachusetts until hopefullty December 13, then surprise, because I will be going back to Central Florida to work at Disney during my winter break. I hope this move to Central Florida will be pernament, lol! You know how much I enjoyed working at Disney and I miss working at Pizza Planet/Parking Lot with all of you! We'll see how this semester will go, ok folks!
Ok, there will be a few changes regading the playoffs this year. I want to address that now and I will remind you again towards the end of the season. First, since the Pro Bowl will be played before the Superbowl this year, there will be a total of five rounds in the playoffs. Second, those that will make it to the playoffs will be the people in the top 32 or those who are behind the leader by 32 points. It will be the first time since season 4 that there will be five rounds of the playoffs and 32 (at least) people in the playoffs. The format of the playoffs will be announced later on in the season, but it will be similiar to what was used in the past years.
If you are new to this game, welcome. Those of you who I sent this to, will hopefully come and join us. It's the best game around and it's free to play! I have ran this game for ten seasons and it's a blast.
Also, if you are new to the game, I just want to give you a heads up. I have sent the week 1 newsletter early because of Labor Day. For the rest of the weeks, expect to get your newsletter on Monday or Tuesday before the games for that week begin. For those weeks that involve Thursday, Friday or Saturday night games, the deadline for the Sunday & Monday games will be on Sunday before kickoff. Please make sure that you see the deadline printed below the games and if you send in your picks after the deadline, you will not receive any points for that week.
DEADLINE: Thursday Game: September 10 @ 8:25PM ET. Yahoo Pick'em: September 10 @ 8:25PM ET All Other Games (via e-mail): September 13 @ 12:55PM ET
To all you new players, when you send me your picks, please send them either of the following ways:
Buffalo @ New England-New England
Buffalo @ New England-NE
New England
Also when you send your picks, please send them in a new message because there will be times that I might be getting your picks (e-mails) on my phone and it takes too long if they are in the newsletter. Thank you!
You may have noticed that a couple of the games are in red text. The NFL is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the American Football League and they will have 16 games during the season where the original eight teams (BUF, DEN, KC, NE, NYJ, OAK, SD, TN) will play in their original uniforms. The Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins will also be featured in a couple of games each. Anytime this season you see a game in red text, that means it will be a legacy game.
If you have any questions regarding Beat Mike or you are simply confused, please e-mail me or text me on my phone! I will be glad to help!
By the way, this will be the first season that I am letting my family members play the game (exception my parents, my sister, my grandparents, my aunts, my uncle).

As some of you may know, ten years ago today, I sent out my very first Beat Mike newsletter and a fantasy sports network was born. I had the pleasure for the past ten years to have fun with you and compete vs. you in the fantasy games offered by the network and it's #1 game, Beat Mike. I wanted to create Beat Mike because back in 1999, there was a game in the Springfield Union News (now The Republican) which was called Beat Carlos. I knew that I wanted a game similiar to Beat Carlos that I could play with my friends and include every single game and the playoffs. From that game, came this great network that I formed. I had to do some marketing to get people to play, but when I got the people to play, it was pretty simple. I was able to make friends with a few people that have their own fantasy sports network. One of which, I am still friends with today, Jon Parrish and his JL Leagues. The other was David Marrier and his Slammer Leagues. Both men were inducted into the Beat Mike Hall of Fame class of 2008 for their achievement in Beat Mike and their achievement on allowing their players to play in my league also. Beat Mike is also the parent organization of the MFL and Mike's PALS (formally known as BMN PALS) walk teams. Just because you may think BMN is only a fantasy sports network, it also is a part of the community with the Rays of Hope and Autism Speaks walks which are held yearly in Springfield area (also have a walk team in Orlando).
I would like to congratuate everyone that was involved in Beat Mike for the past 10 years and thanks for playing the past 10 years. I hope that you will keep on playing and recommend your friends to BMN and hope that they will have a fun time too!
If you would like to play in Season 11, please e-mail me at mikedimauro31784@... or join the Yahoo! league at ID: 22858, Password: gopats.
Good luck to you all and thank you!

Subject: [BMN] Week 10 Standings
Here's the standings for Week 10. I put the World Series pick with Week 8. In
Week 12, I will include the Grey Cup. I did not do a NASCAR championship bonus
pick this year because I know that most of you would select Jimmie Johnson. If
it was only like a 50 point difference or so, yes. Not if it is a 141 point
difference. Here's the standings:
