I just wanted to let you know that the 2008 NFL Season is around the corner and I figured it was time to send you this letter.
This will also be the test issue of the newsletter that will be posted on Bleacher Report.
Starting this season, I will be posting the newsletters in a weekly article for the Bleacher Report. By having it done on the Bleacher Report, there could be a chance that more people will want to play the “pick’em game” that has been great for the past nine seasons.
As some of you know all ready, this will be the 10th season of Beat Mike. I am pretty excited and I cou
ld never believe that I would be doing it 10 seasons!
From a simple game with my friends in Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 of the North American Family Campers Association and classmates at Gateway Regional High School, this game has grown. It’s now a fantasy sports network that also runs the Mike’s Football League (MFL) and the Fall 2008 Disney College Program Fantasy Sports League.
If you would like to play in season 10, please let me know.
The Yahoo! League should be open soon and once it does open up, I will send the information to you.
You can
also play via Facebook, MySpace and e-mail.
Good Luck Everyone!

My friends, co-workers, Disney CPers, NAFCA friends, PV8 friends & family,
This is something that we need to do to help support those in need. Look at my life and how well my parents brought me up. I know a few other people that have autism that need our help and funding. One of my friends at WSC, her brother has Asperger's like me and back in May, her dad came and spoke about how autism works in the law enforcement and how to know the signs when someone has autism. Another person that I know is my boss at Domino's. They think his son has autism and they also had their daughter tested in Boston for it. This is something that the Governor, not alone, everyone in the world needs to know that this is something that will not go away unless we find a cure for it. How would you feel if the Governor cut funding for breast cancer treatment or any other health problem in this world? You would feel the same way. Autism speaks helps thoses who have autism and to find a treatment for it. I am lucky enough that I will be running two teams this year for the walk. September 13 at Stanley Park in Westfield and November 15 at Wide World of Sports @ Walt Disney World in Orlando. Please consider joining one of my teams or donating at www.walknowforautism.org and select Western New England for the Stanley Park walk or Orlando for the walk at WDW. Thank you all!

Subject: Massachusetts Autism Services in Jeopardy! Help Reverse the Governor's Veto
Dear Massachusetts Autism Advocate:
With the stamp of his veto this past week, Governor Deval Patrick has once again told low-income children with Autism Spectrum Disorders that they would not be able to receive the intensive home-based services (including ABA and Floor Time) provided under the Autism Waiver program. Governor Patrick cut $1 million in funding from this critical program, even though our children are already underserved by this program! During the initial eleven day enrollment period in November 2007 the families of more than 1,100 Massachusetts children with ASD applied for just 80 slots available under the Waiver. Hundreds of low-income children continue to languish on the waiting list!
It is time speak on behalf of low-income children with=2
0ASD living in Massachusetts!
Our state legislature recognized the critical need for funding of this program and budgeted $4 million for Fiscal Year 2009. This would double the number of available slots in the program to 160!!
Governor Patrick needs to be aware that this already underserved population simply cannot afford to be shortchanged again. Every child with autism deserves the opportunity to have appropriate intensive intervention. Their future quality of life depends on it.
How Can YOU Help?
1. Immediately CALL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE AND STATE SENATOR at 617-722-2000 and urge them to support an override of Governor Patrick’s veto of $1 million in funding for the Children’s Autism Medicaid Waiver (Line Item 5920-3010). If you are not sure who your representative and senator are you can find out at www.wheredoIvotema.com.
2. CALL Speaker of the House Salvatore DiMasi at 617-722-2500 and Senate President Therese Murray at 617-722- 1500 and ask them to support an override of Governor Patrick’s veto of $1 million in funding for the Children’s Autism Medicaid Waiver (Line Item 5920-3010).
3.Forward this email to everyone you know and ask them to MAKE THE CALL too!!
The override CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED, but we all have to get on the phones to our legislators immediately. Today is the day that you can truly make a difference for a child with ASD.

Has anyone been to Hickory Hill in Bath, NY before and got an answer like we did below? They gave us a proposal and we voted on it at the Spring Safari. Do you think this is right?

Hi, I;m Ace F. Commisoner of NFL Dynasty.
We have a great league on a diverse forum where we keep our league hosted. The league will be hosted on the site the league votes on, most likely ESPN. We Have ONE opening. The team has a lot of cap, we have a salary cap, so can bid on players in free agency. But if you join, be careful with bids as this team ahs spots to fil.
The team started with the Arizona Cardinals roster but the old owners have left a touhg spot.
We're looking for a good, smart, ready-to-trade (with our active owners) owner that will attempt to turn this team around as it does have talent.

No Luck in NFL Draft and New York: A Football Fan Has Bad Day in the
Big Apple
April 26, 2008.
What was that day to you? Was it the day that you watched the Red Sox
lose in Tampa Bay 2-1? Or was it the day that you saw the Patriots
select Mayo with the 10th pick in the 2008 draft?
For one fan, it was a trip to New York City that turned bad. Mike
DiMauro, 24, from Feeding Hills, MA was on a bus trip to New York
City with his camping club. DiMauro was thrilled that he was able to
go on the bus trip, that was until the string of bad luck started.
DiMauro's first stop was to Rockfeller Center to the NBC Studio Tour.
When he got there, he was told that they were all sold out for the
day.
Then, DiMauro went over to Radio City Music Hall to get in line for
the NFL Draft. There were about a few hundred people in front of him
and he didn't get a chance to go into the NFL Draft.
The next stop on DiMauro's list was the NFL Draft Fan Zone. As you
can expect, he was sure to have fun. He was happy that his satellite
radio company, Sirius Satellite Radio, was there doing a live
broadcast.
Let's try this on for size: As DiMauro was walking through the fan
area, he noticed that someone was signing autographs for a group of
people in the crowd. The person was the Commissioner of the NFL,
Roger Goodell. He was standing in the group, but the Commissioner
left him without a signature or a picture with him.
After a few more stops, it was time for DiMauro to take the bus back
home to Massachusetts. After DiMauro told his parents and his friends
online about what happened, he wrote a letter to Commissioner Goodell.
In his letter, DiMauro wrote his opinion about the punishment that
the Commissioner gave to the Patriots back in September for Spygate,
but he said that it was not the main issue of the letter.
DiMauro described his New York City adventure, saying to Goodell, "I
understood why I was unable to get into the NBC studio tour and the
NFL Draft (both sold out), but I was so close to you when you were
signing autographs, other than your schedule, I kind of felt upset
that you were not able to sign an autograph and a picture with me
when there were a group of people around you like that and that I was
in that group made me a little upset and I did not really have an
exciting trip to New York City. I was hoping by getting your
autograph on that day that would make me feel happy."
He went on, saying, "Commissioner Goodell, if possible, could you
please have your autograph on the tickets that I have enclosed (two
tickets to the draft from April 27 that I was unable to use and a fan
central ticket) and at some point, I would like to get a chance to
meet you and get a picture with you, whether it is at the league
office in New York City or at a game. Could you please reply as soon
as possible?"
As of May 30, DiMauro said that he has not heard from the
Commissioner and wished that he would contact DiMauro as soon as
possible about this issue.
I just wanted to keep you updated on the walk team(s) for the autism walk(s). I have a team formed for both the Western New England walk (Springfield) and the Orlando walk. The walk at Stanley Park in Westfield will be on September 13. The walk at Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World in Orlando will be on November 15. I have received news that some of you have joined the WNE team and I want to thank you. Also, I have received a few donations all ready (thank you Suzanne Wright and Linda Ostiguy) and they have been split up between the two events. If you would like to join my walk team (Mike's PALS), please go to walknowforautism.org and click on the Western New England walk then click on search a team and you'll see my name as a team captain. I hope that we can get a great turnout for the team. This walk is for a great cause. I do suffer from autism and look at all of the accomplishments that I have achieved throughout my life, from being on student council to As Schools Match Wits team to even doing the Disney College Program this fall! I understand that I will be in Florida when the WNE walk occurs, but I still wanted to form a team because I know that my friends and family would support me and my cause. I am hoping to do the walk on November 15 in Orlando, but that depends on my work schedule for that day. I do want to find a cure for autism so that people like me or future children in the world do not have to worry about autism. It's a long journey to find a cure, but with your help by joining my walk team or donating for the cause will help it out.
Here's a tidbit that you might not know about autism: Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person's ability to communicate and develop social relationships and is often accompanied by extreme behavioral challenges. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed in 1 in 150 children in the United States, affecting four times as many boys as girls. The diagnosis of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called autism a national public health crisis whose cause and cure remain unknown.
I would like to thank Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 of the North American Family Campers Association (PV8 of NAFCA) for choosing Autism Speaks (the walk's charity) as the national charity for this year. For those of you that might not know, PV8 selects a local and a national charity every year to donate $1000/each. It happens that I put my charity in this year, Autism Speaks. With a little luck and thanks to God, my charity was selected as the national charity. I would also like to thank Don & Jody Ulasewich from PV8 for putting the Fall Safari on September 5-7, instead of September 12-14, so that I could try to get PV8 members to come and walk for the team!
If you would like to join my team or donate and you are having problems reaching the website, please contact me by e-mail at mikedimauro31784@... or phone at (413) 478-2738.
I will be leaving for Florida on August 7 or 8 (depending what my mood is and which route I choose, most likely if I drive the route, I will drive through the Applachains on I-81 to get to Florida, to avoid I-95 through NYC, Baltimore and Washington, though my mom made a suggestion for me to take the autotrain and I still have to think about that with them). I will still run the WNE team from Florida, if you have any problems or questions.
If you are interested in going to next weekend’s campout at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, MA, we are still taking your reservations. The cost of the weekend is $47. Please pay when you get to the gate!!! If you plan to come on Thursday night, you may for an additional $21. Additional family in the same rig is $21. Extra adult is $10. Please e-mail me at mikedimauro31784@... by May 13 at 11:59PM ET with the following information: name, type of camping equipment, size, # of adults, # of teens, # of children, # of pets, if you need handicap parking, and if you are planning to come up Thursday or Friday.
Thanks,

Hello everyone, I present to you the 2008 MFL Schedule. It took me a while to
figure it out and I managed to figure it out! The Games of the Week (GW's) will
return in 2008, but they will not be announced until later. Here's the 2008
Schedule:
Hello everyone. As you may know for the past four years, I have raised money for and walked for the Rays of Hope walk to raise money for a cure to breast cancer (two of those years, captain of my own team). Some people I know, such as Cindy Fagan & Sherri Langevin suffer from breast cancer and I did the walk for them. Now, I would like to form a walk team to find a cure for autism. I suffer from it called Asperger's Syndrome and have been diagnosised with it since I was 22 (two years ago). If you want to know more about it, I do recommend you to go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome or read the book Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison. The walk is on September 13 at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA. I understand that PV8 might be doing a campout then and I might be in Florida doing the Disney College Program. I would still like to form a team and raise money for the cause. It's a very important cause for me, just like the Rays of Hope walk for those who I walked for that had breast cancer. You can join my team at http://www.walknowforautism.org/c.kpILKVOCJoG/b.3618267/siteapps/teampage/ShowPage.aspx?c=kpILKVOCJoG&b=3618267&sid=8gKOL4MzE7KNL0NwFlH or if you are unable to go to that web site, you can go on http://www.walknowforautism.org/site/c.kpILKVOCJoG/b.3618169/ and search for BMN PALS. You can also make a donation there. I hope that I will have more information on the walk and all the things that I will be doing to raise money for my team.
Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your offseason of Beat Mike. Don't you worry, the 10th season will be here in six months. I do, however, have some important news that can not wait six months for.
1. After some consideration and with the events that went on with Josh Pratt after the breakup, I had a tough decision to make. This person has been notified all ready that I chose them for this position. This person has played every year of Beat Mike. This person also won against me in the PV8 Teen Club elections two years in a row when we both were in the club in my final two years of that club. He is a strong worker and if I had a choice to choose anyone else in the BMN world, he would be that person. I wouls like to announce the new Vice President of the Beat Mike Network, Brian LaValley. Congrats!
2. As some of you know, I wasn't sure if I was going to be in Massachusetts next season of BMN. Well, last week, Disney sent me some news and I did get into the Disney College Program this fall. In order to fully go to Florida, I will need to raise my GPA by .043 and do well in school this semester. If I am able to get my grades up and go to Florida, I will still run BMN in Florida.
3. Fantasy Baseball 2008 on Yahoo! I will need those who are interested in playing in my league to register by March 21, so that we can have the draft on March 22. ID 207752, PW redsox.
4. I did create a NCAA Tournament Pool on Yahoo! If you want to play, you need to register by March 20 at 12PM (ET). ID 24503, PW goumass.
5. BMN will sponsor a chat on March 17 at 10PM (ET) for my 24th birthday. The chat will be on AIM. If you want to attend the chat, please make sure you IM me at MikeDiMauro31784 or if you are not able to come, you can text me a birthday wish at 413-478-2738.
That is all I have for now.
Thanks,
Mike

For the second year in a row, 3rd year out of 4, 5th year out of 7, and the 8th time in 20 years, I WILL BE GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA!!!! I did get accepted for the role of Quick Service Food and Beverage, which was actually, one of my backup roles. I know it was not what I was looking for, but it got me in and I will do the best I can at it. If I can do well working at Dominos Pizza, I am sure to do well at Disney. I will be leaving for Florida on August 9 and I will not be back from Florida until January 5 (my check-in date is August 13 and my check-out date is January 2), unless I decide to extend my stay with the program. I wanted to go down early to make sure I do get there with plenty of time. I can promise you all that I will do my best to represent WSC, PV8, Canvasback 157, SNC 30, Bay Path 114, Palm Tree 27, Site Seekers 51, NAFCA, Domino's Pizza of Agawam, BMN, and my friends & family while I am down there.
In order to be successful and able to attend, I will study the hardest I can in the three classes that I am in to get my GPA .04 higher than I am at now and go to the dinner that is being offered at the school Tuesday night.
I will let you know more information ASAP.

I want to add something else to this. I do know how the Patriots feel in this situation because my fantasy football team in the MFL was like the Patriots, the best during the regular. We finished 12-2 and the Patriots finished 16-0. My team went all the way to MFL Bowl III and lost to the Los Angeles Chargers and finished the season 14-3. The Patriots went all the way to Superbowl XLII and lost to the New York Giants and finished the season 18-1. So I know how it feels to be there!
Congrats Chris!! I debated all last week about taking the Giants, but I figured if I was going to lose then I would lose taking the favorite. Nice call.

Greetings everyone! I just got the picks from the two that are in the bowl game. Simply put it, if their team that they picks win, then they will win BMN Bowl IX. Otherwises, the other person will win. Here are the picks:
“I'm going with Patriots by 9"- Brad Moore
“I know this might sound crazy, but i'm going with the G-men. NYG by a game winning FG. 27-24"- Chris Saul
Will we have a first time winner or will we have our first two-time winner? Find out during Superbowl XLII as the Patriots and Giants play!
Good Luck Chris and Brad!
Mike
P.S. I have decided to add a new requirement for the BMN HOF. Starting with the class of 2009, if you win a BMN title, you must play the following two seasons to be egilible right away. For example, if you win the BMN Bowl this year and then then play the next two seasons, then you will become egibile in 2010. If you do not, then you become egibile in 2012. Also, starting in 2009, the BMN HOF class will be announced sometime during the two weeks between the conference championship games and the Superbowl.

I was actually corrected by Brad Moore and he will go to the BMN Bowl to face Chris Saul. I totally forgot about the scores. NE by 9 and NYG by 3. But yes, when the team you picks loses, the number becomes a negative number. And Brad had 6 total and that was the total. Brad, not Bob, will move onto BMN Bowl IX. Sorry about the confusion. It's just I needed to get the correct results and make sure the right people are in the game.
Chris Saul (2nd trip to BMN Bowl in 3 years) vs. Bob Schweizer
Chris Saul has made BMN history by becoming the first person ever to go to the BMN Bowl twice. He won BMN Bowl VII vs. Carl Jacobs.
Bob Schweizer (Woody's Rules) make it in BMN Bowl IX because of the following:
Bob Schweizer 7 (NE by 21, GB by 14)
Brad Moore 6 (NE by 9, GB by 3)
Earl McClain 4 (NE by 11, GB by 4)
Mike DiMauro 1 (NE by 14, GB by 13)
Brian LaValley 0 (NE by 14, GB by 14)
Kevin Payne 3 (NE by 7, GB by 10)
You subtract the second number from the first number and that is how you get the scores that you see there.
Thank You,
Mike

Bob Schweizer 7 (NE by 21, GB by 14)
Brad Moore 6 (NE by 9, GB by 3)
Earl McClain 4 (NE by 11, GB by 4)
Mike DiMauro 1 (NE by 14, GB by 13)
Brian LaValley 0 (NE by 14, GB by 14)
Kevin Payne 3 (NE by 7, GB by 10)
You subtract the second number from the first number and that is how you get the scores that you see there.
Thank You,
Mike
