Personally, I do not like Dana and she should not be one of the 12 playing the game. Dana reminds me of one of my former supervisors I ever had! Next, I would like to see Monica have another chance. She was in the house during season 2 and the game was continuing on September 11 and her cousin died in the September 11 attacks. Monica should come back into the game. I hope that CBS will come close to this prediction I have made.
Everyone expected House Republicans to give up efforts to kill NPR and PBS after a massive public outcry stopped them last year. But they've just voted to eliminate funding for NPR and PBS -- unbelievably, starting with programs like "Sesame Street."
Public broadcasting would lose nearly a quarter of its federal funding this year. Even worse, all funding would be eliminated in two years--threatening one of the last remaining sources of watchdog journalism.
Sign the petition telling Congress to save NPR and PBS again this year:
Last year, millions of us took action to save NPR and PBS, and Congress listened. We can do it again if enough of us sign the petition in time.
This would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting. The Boston Globe reports the cuts "could force the elimination of some popular PBS and NPR programs." NPR's president expects rural public radio stations may be forced to shut down.
The House and Senate are deciding if public broadcasting will survive, and they need to hear from viewers like you. Sign the petition at:
If you join NAFCA between now and May 2007, you and I would be entered to win a free week of camping. At the 2007 spring safari in Greenfield, if your name is drawn, you win a free week of camping at the NAFCAree. When you send the application, my name (Mike DiMauro) must be on there also.
Former Mayor Withdraws from Race SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - Former Springfield Mayor Theodore DiMauro says he has withdrawn his candidacy for the western Massachusetts seat on the governor's council. Two other democrats and one republican still remains in the race for incumbent Peter Vickery's seat. Vickery is not seeking re-election.
NFL.com and NFL Network to unveil regular-season schedule
(April 4, 2006) -- For the third straight season, the National Football League's release of the regular-season playing schedule will be made into a two-hour television show on NFL Network's signature show, NFL Total Access. The show will air this Thursday, April 6, at 2 p.m. ET.
It will also be posted simultaneously on NFL.com, broken down by date, by team and by broadcast network.
The NFL Total Access Schedule Show Presented by GMC will be hosted by Rich Eisen, alongside guest analyst Steve Mariucci.
NFL Total Access will announce the 2006 regular-season playing schedule on a week-by-week basis, highlighting the new changes taking place this season, including flexible scheduling, the addition of NBC and NFL Network as broadcasters, plus all the compelling matchups.
In addition to highlighting the key games of the 2006 season, the special will also feature interviews with current players, including John Lynch of the Denver Broncos, coaches, including Herm Edwards of the Chiefs and Sean Payton of the Saints, plus broadcasters, including FOX's Troy Aikman, to gauge their reactions to the schedule as it comes out.
The two-hour special will re-air the same day as its original air at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
In addition to the NFL Total Access Schedule Show Presented by GMC, NFL Network features live, gavel-to-gavel coverage of Day 1 of the 2006 NFL Draft, as well as exclusive live coverage of NFL Europe games this April

Crash kills former game show host, wife
Tuesday, March 14, 2006; Posted: 4:06 a.m. EST (09:06 GMT)
SANTA MONICA, California (AP) -- A former TV game show host and his wife were killed Monday morning when their small plane crashed into Santa Monica Bay, authorities said. Rescue crews were searching for a third person also aboard the plane.
The bodies of Peter Tomarken, 63, host of the hit 1980s game show "Press Your Luck," and his wife, Kathleen Abigail Tomarken, 41, were identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
The plane was on its way to San Diego to ferry a medical patient to the UCLA Medical Center, said Doug Griffith, a spokesman for Angel Flight West, a nonprofit which provides free air transportation for needy patients.
Griffith said the pilot was a volunteer for the group. According to the FAA, the plane was registered to Tomarken and he was the pilot.
The plane apparently had engine trouble and was headed back to Santa Monica Airport, located about two miles inland, but went down about 9:35 a.m. just off shore, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer.
Rescue boats and divers searching for the third person believed to be aboard the plane were clustered about a half-mile southwest of the Santa Monica Pier where the plane went down in about 19 feet of water.
Luis Garr said he didn't hear the engine but heard the splash as the plane "kind of landed into the water."
"It's a big splash, a huge splash. ... Then it started going down," Garr said. "The wings were still floating so I was, `Get out! Get out!' because the door was still available to get out and nobody came out. So the plane kept going down, down, down."
Tomarken's death was first reported by "Entertainment Tonight."
"Press Your Luck" was known for contestants shouting the slogan "Big bucks! No whammies!"
Tomarken's agent, Fred Wostbrock, said his client's first game show was "Hit Man!," which ran 13 weeks on NBC, followed by the four-year hit "Press Your Luck" on CBS. He also was on "Bargain Hunters," "Wipe-Out" and "Paranoia."
"He was always a fun guy to be around, and he just loved the genre of game shows," Wostbrock said.

NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Struggling TV networks WB and UPN will merge into a single new youth-oriented broadcaster this fall in a surprise deal announced on Tuesday that reshapes the landscape of U.S. television.
The new CW network will debut in September 2006 as a 50-50 joint venture of UPN parent company CBS Corp. and Time Warner Inc., which controls the WB, shrinking the field of major U.S. commercial TV networks from six to five.
Tribune Co., which holds a minority stake in the WB, will not have any ownership interest in the newly combined entity. While no programming decisions were revealed, the merger will join the biggest shows of both networks, likely including UPN's "Everybody Hates Chris" and the WB's "Gilmore Girls."
Executives said CW would be run more cost-efficiently than UPN (which stands for United Paramount Network) or WB (for Warner Bros.) and would probably turn a profit at its launch, something neither predecessor network has managed to achieve. They did not address how many layoffs or how much in cost savings would result from the consolidation.
UPN President Dawn Ostroff will become the president of entertainment at the new network. John Maatta, chief operating officer of WB, will serve the same role at CW.
UPN and the WB, both formed 11 years ago, have each struggled to build ratings with programming aimed at younger viewers than the 18-to-49-year-old audience regarded as the advertising sweet spot for the Big Four broadcasters -- ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
CW will essentially follow the strategy of its predecessors, targeting viewers aged 18 to 34.
CHANNEL NOISE
The merger comes as the most obvious sign yet that the increasingly fragmented U.S. television market is incapable of supporting as many as six commercial networks. Until now, even the combined audiences of the WB and UPN typically pale in comparison to their larger rivals.
"Five might be one broadcast network too many," said Bob Thompson, head of Syracuse University's Center for the Study of Popular Television.
The most watched shows on the WB and UPN this season are "7th Heaven" and "America's Next Top Model," which rank 107 and 114, respectively, among all prime-time shows, with just over 5 million viewers each, according to Nielsen Media Research. By comparison, the nation's top-ranked drama, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," averages 25 million viewers a week.
"UPN was approaching a point where we were hoping to break even, and we were getting close," CBS Chief Executive Les Moonves told reporters. "The long-range plan looked far better with this (new network)."
Barry Meyer, CEO of Time Warner's Warner Bros. Entertainment, added: "We saw coming down the pike a challenged landscape to keep (the WB) alive. There's a very good chance that the (new) network will be profitable from the get-go."
The companies expect the newly merged network to reach 95 percent of the country.
Tribune said its 16 stations carrying UPN broadcasts have signed 10-year affiliate deals with the new network. Similarly, CBS said its 12 UPN stations signed 10-year affiliate pacts.
The two station groups reach 48 percent of the country. The companies expect the remainder of the new network to come from a combination of existing WB and UPN affiliates.
The Fox network, a unit of News Corp. Ltd., owns nine TV stations that are currently UPN affiliates, and those stations will seek new programming, News Corp. spokesman Andrew Butcher said. "Every change is an opportunity."
The CW will follow the WB's current scheduling model, carrying 13 hours of prime-time programming on six nights a week. It will also will include a Monday-through-Friday afternoon bloc from 3 to 5 p.m. Eastern and a five-hour Saturday morning bloc of children's shows.
The WB and UPN were both launched in January 1995 targeting younger, more female-skewing audiences than their larger network rivals.
The WB practically invented the 12-to-34-year-old demographic of teens and young adults, with an emphasis on female viewers, though 18 to 34 is considered its advertising sweet spot. Besides "Gilmore Girls," its prime-time lineup includes "Smallville," "Everwood," "Supernatural," "Reba" and reality show "Beauty and the Geek."
UPN likewise has focused on a female-oriented 18 to 34 crowd, with many of its shows -- including current shows "Everybody Hates Chris," "Girlfriends" and "Eve" -- aimed primarily at an African-American audience.
CBS shares closed up 4.18 percent, or $1.08, at $26.90 on the New York Stock Exchange. Time Warner shares rose 1 percent, or 18 cents, to $17.27. Tribune shares fell 0.84 percent or 25 cents to $29.65.

Hello everyone! I decided to add a new twist this year and to have a runnerup playoff. In the event that no one plays the other bracket, the winner will come from here. I think by having the runnerup bracket is good because it gives us a chance to play along, though we are out. Here we go:
#6 Washington Redskins (11-6) @ #1 Seattle Seahawks (13-3)
Please e-mail me your picks by Saturday morning at 10AM (ET), so I can take the form with me to work and follow along while I am at work. If you can't make that deadline, please e-mail me your picks by Saturday at 4:25PM (ET).
Hello everyone! It's time for round 2 of the playoffs! I will keep the same playoff format as last week. I think it was easier to do it with this format. I am not sure if I will do head-to-head for round 3 or not. I know in the BM Bowl, it will be head-to-head. Here's the games:
#6 Washington Redskins (11-6) @ #1 Seattle Seahawks (13-3)
Please e-mail me your picks by Saturday morning at 10AM (ET), so I can take the form with me to work and follow along while I am at work. If you can't make that deadline, please e-mail me your picks by Saturday at 4:25PM (ET).
