| Patriot wars: Retooling the dynasty |
| By Dan Pompei - SportingNews
There is unrest on Planet Foxborough. Many of its inhabitants fear the Patriot Federation will be overthrown after a long, prosperous reign over the galaxy. The mysteries of the turbulence can be explained only by the wise Coach Yodachick, who has been through hundreds of wars. Master Yodachick, does keeping the Federation together at this point represent a challenge greater than any other? Great every challenge has been, my Padawan. One is not more imposing than the other. Change is constant. Come and go, senators do. Come and go, warriors do.
Find new ways to invigorate the minds of our Jedi, we must. If the Jedi linebacker Tedi Bruschi does not return, how will the force be affected? Energy, we will miss. Leadership, we will miss. Knowledge, we will miss. But battle without him, we have in the past. Is there anyone who can replace him who does not move like a droid? Capable of wielding lightsabers, Monty Beisel and Chad Brown are. What of losing council member Charlie Weis? A good play-caller and teacher, he is. Minimize his contributions, I cannot. But a veteran staff we have. Whatever is necessitated, my involvement will be. Forget not I have worked with the quarterbacks the four years past. Can the Jedi knight Tom Brady help fill the void left by Weis? Increased each year, the Jedi's powers have. Continue, that will. In his hands, more control will be. So, you expect Brady to use his mental powers as well as his physical powers, Master Yodachick? How perceptive, how perceptive. In his domain will be more check-with-me's, audibles, change of protections, route adjustments and signaling routes to receivers based on coverage. On the field of battle, more adjustments will he make. Getting Brady signed must have been a big relief to the council. No quarterback would I rather have. Build with him and build around him, we can. Helped the whole building process, this has. So Brady's presence helps define the other warriors who will be part of the attack? A ripple effect, there is, apprentice. Our quarterback, this is, so this is what, at some of the other positions, we need to have. With him, there are routes of a certain type we have been running that to run, we shall continue. The types of players we need to protect him, identify we can. What future do you foresee for the adorable little Ewok Doug Flutie? Up to the Ewok, his future will be. Granted to him, the opportunity to play will be. The great Jedi Troy Brown nearly left the Federation. Now that he has returned, what role will he fulfill? When a player is closer to the end of his career than the beginning, re-establish his position he must. Forgotten quickly is what was done last year. Receiver and punt returner, his best roles are. But if he is needed on defense, again he will be called upon. The bounty hunter Peyton Manning and his band of renegades continue to take shots at the Federation. So far you have been able to prevent them from causing too much damage to the Planet. Can the Jedi continue to keep Manning and his team at bay? Evenly matched, the two forces are. On the 1-yard line in the final minute of a game, they were stopped two years ago. A missed field goal at the end of the game separated us last year. Many great battles between us, there have been. The same I would expect when again we meet. Lord Saban, once one of your closest confidants, has defected to the dark side. Can he mount a challenge to the Federation? (Shivers) The most out of his troops, Lord Saban will get. The longer the Federation has been empowered, the more your plans have been duplicated by enemies. Do you fear an attack of the clones? Nothing can we do about the clones. Improve our focus, we can. Tailor our systems to what our players do best, we must. Determine what we need to do in order to take care of problems opponents present us, we will. One more thing, Master Yodachick. Several Jedi -- Ty Law, Joe Andruzzi and David Patten among them -- have broken their alliances with the Federation. Another, Richard Seymour, apparently is discontented. Given the Federation's mastery of the galaxy, is some of the discord we are seeing an unavoidable matter of star wars? No stars are there here, Padawan, no stars. |
