I found out that Massachusetts is not the only state to follow the rest of the country. Ontario does not follow rest of Canada on auto insurance. Here's what I mean (thanks Jon Postman):
"hey did you know that every other province except ontario has cheaper insurance then ontario. Ontario (and possibly eastern provinces havent looked into the east yet) is the only province that is not government regulated basicly meaning the government doesnt put caps on our insurance. For instance a 16 yr old driver in alberta, bc, manitoba, and sask driving a 1996 regular cavalier 4 dr pays under $1600.00 for full coverage. The quotes for ontario range from $2800.00 to $6800.00 lets keep in mind i only bought the car for $1500.00... Any of that seam a little bit fucked up to you. The system is mangled in ontario and its getting raised again the insurance companies just went to the government and got permission to raise the insurance prices. In all the provinces west of ontario insurance prices for liability stay the same no matter what vehicle you drive for isntance i could drive a ford gt and if i only got liability i'd be paying $1200.00 a year."
"It makes it almost impossible for anyone from the ages of 16-24 to have any money in their pocket. If your paying $5000.00 a year on car insurance at the age of 19 driving a buick regal, with a completly clean record. That add's up to probably quarter of his yearly income, not including gas (which is a completly other story) So if an average 19 yr old makes $12.00 an hour working 10 hours a day, 250 days a year (thats taking vacations out and weekends he'l bring home 30 grand gross. Now take away taxes, thats about a 1/3 of it. Take away gas payments thats atleast another $3000.00. that already brings you to $17000.00 then insurance. Basicly your insurance almost add's up to paying half of your annual mortgage rate. You get the point i could go on and on. However the problem is that no one has stepped in to do something about it. Alberta people started complaining it changed, let alone they even had the police complaining because too many people were driving without insurance"
"which is the same thing that is happening in ontario but they think by giving people a fine of $4000.00 is gunna stop people. Hell no not when ur paying more for insurance then what the ticket is. Its time tho that someone needs to do something about it send letters to the govt, im going to be starting my own facebook group very soon and hopefully through doing that i'll be getting a bill in to get the government to break down on it and change everyone, put caps on it that are alot lower or let the insurance companies be government ran. Anyways gimme your thoughts i posted a hell of alot but i got alot more to say about it too lol anyways sorry for blabing on look for my facebook group in a couple weeks and be a part of changing the insurance prices"
You know that I am in support for Jon and the rest of Ontario for their situation. I hope they are on our support for us in Massachusetts. I think Massachusetts and Canada should be allowed to have competition for auto insurance. If they can do that for life insurance or health insurance or for home loans, WHY NOT FOR AUTO INSURANCE!!!!! Please sign the petition! I have over 100 signatures all ready, but more are better my friends and family! http://www.petitionspot.co
Thank You,
Mike
