"As Schools Match Wits" Gets New Lease On Life
CHICOPEE, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - 22News Vice President and General Manager William Pepin announced late Wednesday that a partnership has been agreed upon that will have Westfield State College produce the long running high school quiz program. Pepin said, "We're going to provide technical assistance, production assistance and administrative assistance to get the show off the ground and hopefully it will continue for a long, long time." The partnership agreement calls for WGBY Channel 57 to broadcast "As Schools Match Wits". W.G.B.Y. Channel 57 General Manager Russ Peotter said, "It looks like there will be a great future for "As Schools Match Wits" for many years to come we hope." Peotter met late Wednesday with individuals who had expressed an interest in helping to keep the program on the air. In the meantime, interim Westfield State College President Barry Maloney told 22News, he's excited about his school producing the program. He expects the program to get off the ground in January.
