The Seahawks travel to Foxborough this week for the first time since 1993 and take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. Seattle's 3-1 record equals their record at the quarter mark of 2003. The team went on to start he season 5-1 and finish 10-6 to earn a Wild Card playoff berth. This game kicks off a stretch in which four of the club’s next five games will be played away from Qwest Field, including division games at Arizona (10/24), San Francisco (11/7) and a rematch with the Rams at St. Louis (11/14). The Seahawks have started the season 2-0 on the road and to go 3-0 the team will have to end the Patriots’ NFL-record 19-game winning streak, a streak that includes the NFL’s longest current home-game winning streak of 11 regular-season games, 13 including playoffs. This is the first game for the Seahawks versus an AFC opponent this season. The Seahawks play the AFC East and won’t play another member of that conference until they host Miami on November 21. This is also the first season the Seahawks have played the AFC East since the re-alignment, but posted a 26-27 record against the division prior to 2002. Last season, the Seahawks were 2-2 versus AFC North opponents. The Seahawks are 7-6 in the all-time series versus the Patriots. Although the Seahawks and Patriots have not matched up since 1993, Seattle has won the last five games played between 1988 and 1993, including four in a row on the road. The five-game winning streak against New England is tied for the longest current streak versus any opponent, along with a five-game string versus the San Diego Chargers. The nine-year hiatus between the two teams is the longest of any current opponent. When the club plays the Patriots this weekend the New York Jets will have the longest span between meetings, with the two teams having not played since the 1999 season. However, the Seahawks will play the Jets in New York on December 19. Mike Holmgren has tangled with the Patriots three times, all as head coach of the Green Bay Packers. Holmgren led his 1996 squad to a Super Bowl XXXI victory over the Patriots.

AND A ONE, AND A TWO, ...
The Seahawks have started 3-1 for the seventh time in club history and have accomplished the feat for the second time in consecutive seasons (1998-99 and 2003-04). The club has made the playoffs three (1984, 1999, 2003) of the prior six seasons when starting 3-1. Seattle has started a season 4-1 twice (1984 and 1986) and had a club-best 5-1 start last season.
