During the month of September I visited 132 cemeteries in twelve states, taking
photos of 294 ball player gravesites. Those are now listed with more than 800
other gravesite photos on my Gravesite Index at (
http://www.baseballundertaker.com/gravesites.html ). The index has links for
each ball player to his record on The Baseball Necrology - Live (
http://www.thebbnlive.com/ ), which gives details on the after-baseball
activities of deceased ball players. Also included are cemetery, grave location
in the cemetery and GPS readings, along with other information when available,
and links to Baseball Almanac and Baseball Research websites. The Baseball
Necrology - Live now has entries for 9107 deceased baseball players and baseball
personalities. To the best of my knowledge, every post-1876 player who has died
is included in the website, with varying amounts of after-baseball information,
depending upon what is available and what I have been able to find.

Enjoy!

I played baseball in the Glenwood League, against Joe Riazzi,
forty-eight years ago. He had a mid-80s fastball with no hop -
feast. He had a curve ball with no break - another feast. And he had
some junk pitch that was a real pain in the ass. The owner of the
Erie Senators signed him as a draw, pitching in front of hometown
fans, but that was a huge thrill for him. He was a really good guy.

Ironically, James Earl "Jim" Jadwin, who played in the Cleveland Indians
organization, died on October 25, 2011 was a teamate of Mr. Ellison in
1949 with the Union City Greyhounds. In fact, they might have formed a
battery.

Jack sent out his obituary earlier today.

The online death notice spotted by Bill Schenley appeared in the Hagerstown (MD) Herald-Mail, stating that David Bruce Cole passed away on Wednesday October 25, 2001 at Meritus Medical Center‎ which I show is located in Robinwood, Maryland. Presumably a full obit will appear in the next day or two.

Dave Cole had an oddity at the end of his major league carrer.
Officially, his last game in the majors was 6 June 1955. However, while
playing for St. Paul (AA) on 8 July 1955, he was the losing pitcher in the
29 May 1955 suspended game between the Phillies and the Pirates. Thus he
is one of two pitchers who lost a major league game while in the minors.
This is in my article "Anomalies of Protested and Suspended Baseball
Games."
