Al Lopez the HOF was the last 1920's era MLB player to my knowledge.  Cant speak to Minor League players though.

Good question.  Tony Malinosky, the oldest living minor leaguer (born 10/05/1909) first played professionally in 1932.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=malino001ant

Actually, there's a possibility that he played pro ball earlier, as we have a record for an Unknown Malinosky playing three games for San Bernardino in the California State League in 1929.  Tony attended and played collegiate ball for Whittier College, so it's not out of the question that those games belong to him.  http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=malino002---  SABR does have an oral history interview w/Malinosky in the files in Cleveland.

Here's a video clip that I think was shared in this forum a while back.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHSQGR7GqGQ

While it's certainly possible and perhaps even likely, I know of no centenarians among living former minor leaguers. I don't believe there is any feasible way of deducing based on the huge gaps in the known biographical data in the SABR Minor League Database..

Who is the Negro Leaguer that you are referring to?

Former Yankees star Tommy Henrich dies at 96

PA Sports
December 01, 2009

NEW YORK — Former New York Yankees star Tommy Henrich has
died at 96.

The team said Henrich died Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio.

Henrich began playing for the Yankees in 1937 and finished in
1950, and won four World Series championships. The outfielder
was nicknamed "Old Reliable" because of his knack for getting
clutch hits.

Among his teammates were Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Whitey
Ford. Henrich hit .282 with 183 home runs.

You guys decide if this counts:

It's a great read about 93-year-old Dante Santora who apparently signed a contract with the Mission Reds in 1928 (a "half-ass contract" by this own admission) that didn't allow him to hit. So, it probably doesn't count.

Tommy Henrich was, I think, the last survivor of the Yankee teams of 1937-1942.  (There are also no survivors from 1943-44, when Henrich was away).  He was thus the last surviving teammate of Lou Gehrig, Red Rolfe and George Selkirk, among others.

Henrich was the last surviving Yankee from their World Series win over the Cubs in 1938. (Phil Cavarretta is the only surviving Cub).  Henrich was also the last survivor from either team in the 1941 Series, when the Yankees beat the Dodgers.

At the start of the year, Tommy Henrich was alive, as was Billy Werber, Babe
Ruth's last team mate, as well as the last American Leaguer to play against Ruth
(1934 Red Sox). His Yankee career began in 1930, meaning he survived his major
league debut the third longest in history. Now, just months later, Ken Holcombe
is the senior living Yankee, the only war time Yankee, from 1945. He is the
latest 'most senior' player of all of the old sixteen teams.

Then my verbage was innacurate. I meant to say that, of the sixteen old teams,
who each have a senior living player, the Yankees have the latest example in
Holcombe, 1945. For example, the Cubs have the earliest senior player in Phil
Cavaretta, 1934, and the Nationals have the American League earliest senior in
Buddy Lewis, 1935. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

And just for completeness, here is the list that has been alluded to: earliest debuts by surviving players from the "original 16 teams".

September 16, 1934 Cubs: Phil Cavarretta
September 16, 1935 Senators: Buddy Lewis
July 19, 1936 Indians: Bob Feller
September 11, 1936 Reds: Eddie Joost
April 20, 1937 Red Sox: Bobby Doerr
April 24, 1937 A's: Ace Parker (NFL Hall of Famer)
April 26, 1937 Dodgers: Tony Malinosky
July 1, 1938  Braves: Art Kenney
September 11, 1938 Phillies: Alex Pitko
September 14, 1938 Tigers: Benny McCoy
April 16, 1940 Cardinals: Marty Marion
early 1941 Pirates: Nick Strincevich
September 6, 1941 White Sox: Dave Philley
September 16, 1941 Browns: Chuck Stevens
August 28, 1943 Giants: Charlie Mead
April 27, 1945 Yankees: Ken Holcombe

Apologies if I got some of the team names wrong...you know who I mean. And big apologies if I inadvertently included anyone who has died.

All these players were, unsurprisingly, making their major league debuts- apart from Strincevich, who had already played for the Braves.

So, as Fredric pointed out, the Yankees have this year slipped from top to bottom of the list.

I think that all 14 expansion teams still have at least a few survivors from the nine (or ten) players who started their franchise's first game.

You might be interested to read the biography I have written for Lewis Heuvel on
the Baseball in Wartime Blog

It should also be noted that the Lewis Heuvel who played minor league baseball
in 1940 is the same person as the Louis Huevel who played in 1942.

Please pardon the cross posting.  For those interested in baseball graves, go to http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/index and you can see their "Travel Ten" of baseball grave sites.  The accompanying article is at http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/news/story?id=4722632.  SABR member Stew Thornley chose the sites and provided most of the pictures (the other photographers may also be SABR members, I didn't check).
