Re: [Bartitsu_Forum] The Future of Bartitsu project: "sport Bartitsu"

Well, Barton-Wright seems to me to have been very interested in style vs. style type fights.  Having competetive rules for this variety of bout would not only be keeping with his tradition, but for the more defensive practitioner, is an excellent tactical exercise.  I believe the most obvious solution to open up a competition (tournament) venue would be similar to the k-1 style; round 1=la canne, round 2 boxing; 3=savate; 4=jujitsu.  I think it would be fun to throw the rounds out in random order for each match.  I see no real desire to try and emulate other MMA competitions, those already exist why make anouther one.

My thoughts

Should neo-Bartitsu have a sporting component at all? If so, what
competitive formats would you want/expect to see? Style vs. style?
Anything goes? How would it be distinguished from regular MMA, or Dog
Brothers type sparring contests?

Cheers,

Tony

At my age (63+) I can see me lasting the complete competition. Match a few of us 60 plus types and we would finish our second competition in the coronary unit...
