I'd leave it there. Makes for lighter shifting and it's easier if you
ever have to fix/adjust your front derailleur, boom, handlebar etc.
I have all my cables etc. on the outside, with large radius curves.
Ideally I want everything (brakes, gears, light) to be able to take
off the bike as a unit, without having to take the bike apart either.
