I fitted a Terracycle idler and dropped the chain (removed the return side idlers.) As mentioned, the original chain keeper and tube attachment is removed. I use stiff zip ties to simple allow the tube to 'float' on the chain. A stiff 8 inch zip tie is attached to the tube with another zip tie (just behind the flared end,) then the tapered end of the first tie is tied to the seat bracket. The tie makes a naturally flexible stalk to hold the tube.
Any idler will be noisy if the chain is running sideways over the cogs. You may need to use a different inner washer/collar on the idler bolt to adjust the idler in or out. You can only optimise it for one gear combination and logically that will be the gears you use when cruising. Terracycle can make a you an idler that floats in and out but in my case, there's not enough space under the seat and the idler would touch the seat rails.
The current set up is quiet and reliable. TC win again!
