Re: [BaronOwners] Re: X-low vs. regular

I am not sure about the newer version, but older
X-lows have no mounts for idlers to route the chain
over the wheel. They intended it as a race bike, so
down is where its at.

Also, as Sjef has pointed out, there can be slight
fork interference. Mine had a bit of this with the
granny ring on a triple crankset. I solved that
problem by installing a non-katana monoblade from a
Challenge Taifun.

I am not sure about the present situation, but at the
time that I got my frameset, wait times for an X-low
were pretty long. I think mine took almost nine
months. They just weren't making many of them and you
had to wait for them to do a run.

Dave

Jeremy, The X-low version was certainly faster, perhaps by one kph or so, all else being equal. Both are equally easy to ride. I also liked the fact that the...

The X-low is a bit faster indeed, and as Dave says: you can easily touch the ground with your hands when standing still. Both versions are easily to handle....

One other thing to consider is if a crack is an actual frame or paint crack, mine for instance is the version that is reinforced on the bottom (2002 frame?)...
