Whooping cough is the worst! It has had me absolutely down for the count! I can finally make it up the stairs in my house without hacking a lung...
I can't believe it's basically been a month since i've run- much less done anything else related to physical exersion (and I mean anything...). Hard to be a good wife & mother when I can't breathe...
I know how I work when it comes to recovery from something chest-wise. I'll have to start in the pool with some laps. it's my quickest way to building my cardio back up. So I plan to hit the gym this coming week during the lunch hour & see what happens in the pool.
ugh... anyway - just wanted y'all to know that I'm still out here -- still a runner, at heart at least.

I seldom overstride but I do have a very fast cadence. I think that this is
why I have struggled with lower ab issues (coupled with my need to
strengthen my "core" muscles). I am a bit surprise at pulling my left groin
muscle, but I do not think it is too serious.
I'll let you know.

Back when I ran with shoes (pre-October 2003), I thought I was going
to have to have a hernia operation on my groin muscle. That, I figure
out, was from overstriding, especially up hills. Since working on my
form with BF running, I run mainly from my butt or "haunches" as I
like to call it. It is more running from my buttocks than from the
front of my pelvis which caused the problem for me. Since I now run
with a low-center of gravity from my rear end which pushes me
forward, I haven't had that problem in few years. Another factor, is
I don't necessarily try to go fast anymore so I don't have to worry
about overstriding to increase my speed.

Both. My lower ab has been bothering for 2 months or so; I have diligently
been doing exercises to help. But yesterday my left groin muscle was pulled
early in my run, and combined with the ab issues, 5 miles was all I could
muster. I will not rush my stretching in the future.
Much better today.

29.4 miles for me this week. I had hoped for more, but a lower ab pulled
muscle has been bothering me and I could only get 5 miles in today instead
of my planned 9.

BTW - I did a quick online concordance look-up on the word "barefoot" in the Bible. There may be more but here are the one's it came up with. (Of course, there is the most famous about Moses, but the wording of that is "take off your shoes, this is holy ground". The implication is that Moses was barefoot after the fact.
2 Samuel 15:30 And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
Isaiah 20:2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
Isaiah 20:3 And the LORD said, Like as my
servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia
Isaiah 20:4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
