Started well this week, 12K on Tuesday, but then I started sneezing and coughing, having a little temperature and feeling miserable. Today is my first day of feeling better again. (But still sneezing 'n coughing :-( )

So, not more than 7.5 BF miles for me this week.

2007/10/1, liporati2002 <liporati@...>:

And 17.87 BF miles for me.

Bye, Leonardo.

I am sure you are probably doing this Victor, but stretch that achilles
both before you run (or bike) and afterwards also.

Best,

Rick

My barefoot mileage for this week is 13.2.

I'm taking it easy right now to give my achilles tendonitis a chance
to recover a bit. I hate not running as much as I'd like to!
However, I am putting a lot of miles on the bike.

Thanks Yanni. I think it truly is ironic that a Britain with a more "dole-centric" society, prossibly even more than the U.S. still has problems with street people. I saw them in London ten years ago.

BTW - Rebecca and I are for sure coming over there next summer to meet up with our daughter who is taking a history trip with her school. We will certainly meet up then.

The Bare Soul
Be Encouraged! - September 30, 2007
Occasionally, I get discouraged just as we all experience doubts about ourselves. My most recent discouragement was around whether I was truly doing the will of the Lord with my barefoot running, barefoot writing, and my barefoot running ministry to youth groups, running clubs, etc. ... More!

Sent this out to my email list this morning. Please consider helping
the homeless. See below. Blessings!

-------------------------------------------------

First of all, I would like to thank all those who have given to Soles
For Souls to help the Kansas City Rescue Mission. During my first
barefoot marathon of three in Omaha last weekend, I had a wonderful
reception and gracious Omaha-ians gave both from their pockets and
their promised prayers.

We have made a wonderful start toward the $10,000 goal.

So far, online giving has equalled $550 -- cash donations are at
approximately $250, and one corporate pledge of $250 has come in for
a total of $1050. So, we are over one-tenth of our way to the "finish
line" with 5 weeks to go!

For those who have given ... thank you so much! Many lives will be
touched by your gracious giving.

I would like to challenge each and every one of you on this email
distribution to consider giving $5 toward the goal. If everyone
stepped up and gave $5, we would surpass our goal of $10,000.

If you would like to remain anonymous to KCRM (to not receive their
future mailings and such) please consider sending what you can to:

Otherwise, please consider giving through KCRM's website or send a
check directly to KCRM, 1520 Cherry St., KCMO 64108. This way, your
donation will of course be tax deductable (PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT
SOLES FOR SOULS IN THE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS BOX).

  BR's Omaha Marathon Report - September 23, 2007

What a fantastic weekend! You know it's going to be a "barefoot runners' event(s)" when the race director, months before, puts out the word that she is creating the first-ever barefoot divisions for the marathon, half-marathon, and 10K distances. Of course this caused quite a buzz in our small circle of continental barefoot runners. The anticipation leading up to this weekend turned out to be complementary of the actual events.

That's great Doug! The last 50 mile week you had was back in April, but
as you say you beat that week with this new record. Way to go!

This week I ran 53.5 miles barefoot. This is the most I have run in a week.
Now after 63 weeks of barefoot runnning, I am really enjoying the freedom of
barefooting.

Hanneke:

Where exactly on your foot is the pain?  You stated it was "far up the foot and more in the line of the small toe."  Is it opposite the arch of your foot on the top side?   I had pains there when I began barefoot running and I attributed it to weak foot muscles.  Running barefoot puts a lot of demand on the arch and your muscles just might be telling you they need time to get stronger.

Hope things work out.

Doug

Hi, I decided to ask a question, I can't find it in the existing posts. So
please refer me to an existing post if my question has been asked already.
I am a 42 yr old woman and run for about my whole life. Since very recent
(about 2 months) I discovered alternative forms of running. I did a chi running
class. I bought myself fivefingers shoes and started 'barefoot'. I think I took
it slow but maybe not.
This last sunday I did the ready to run 20 miler in chicago and after that I
had an odd pain in my right foot. I ran the 20 miler in newton shoes, this shoe
is more light but almost forces you to run on  your mid or forefoot. I tried the
shoes on shorter runs before and was fine. I did have the pain a little bit
before I started the run and that started after running appr. 2 miles on my
fivefingers. Hope I still make sense. Now the pain is in an odd place according
to the sports physician that I visited. It's too far up the foot and more in the
line of the small toe, so that would not indicate a stress fracture and an x ray
didnt read anything either. So the doc says I can run but it hurts. So what
should I do? I have the marathon (my first one) coming up and I am extremely
ready. But I don't know what to do. So here is my question to you because I
think it might occur with barefoot runners more and maybe it sound very
familiar to you.
Hope that my post is not too chaotic (I'm not native english speaking) please
ask questions if you want to know more.
I especially want to know if it's save to run through the pain.

Peter, you're catching me up!
28.28 for me this week - I did a few too many last week after my
lay-off a few weeks earlier. Am reminded of the need to build things
back up gradually again, to get all systems back to operational
effectiveness.
