All:
This is my 155th week of running barefoot. In that time, I have logged 4024.5 miles. My range has increased from a mile at a time 3 days a week to 10 miles at a time 3-5 days a week. I remember back to the time that 5 miles at a time were my limit and I never thought I could run 10 miles barefoot and actually have feet that felt fine immediately after the run. But those days have arrived.
The best thing that I have learned in nearly 3 years is the importance of pacing and listening to your body. It is this lesson that has enabled me to run over 4000 miles in 3 years.
It turns out that I will be celebrating my 156th week of running this coming week in my home town. Thus, as I will be traveling with no internet access, I decided to get my miles for this week, number 155, in early:
40 miles
It has been an interesting journey, and this forum has played an important role in it. I appreciate the fact that there are others, like myself, who have chosen to run barefoot. This has been important grounding for my psyche and I am in debt to all of you for this.
Thank you,
Doug
