Just wanted to mention a nice local 5K (with a long run option, cool for those
training for a fall marathon) in Alexandria that benefits the New Orleans and
the areas around it.

Join us for the fourth running of this important event that has raised over
$150,000 for New Orleans and Gulf Coast relief and recovery efforts! Come and
declare your support for the rebuilding of this unique city. The event will be
held September 20, 2008 at 9:00am in Oronoco Bay Park in beautiful Old Town,
Alexandria. Participants can expect:
A great New Orleans atmosphere
Chip timing and Mizuno participant premiums
Family friendly event with children’s activities
All speeds welcome! Runners and walkers welcome
A beautiful course through Old Town, Alexandria and along the Potomac
Age group and team awards Long Run Option! Join the Pacers Alexandria fun run
group prior to the race and participate in the “10 Mile + 5K” training run.
Participants will run a ten mile training run prior to the 5K. A great option
for runners who need to get in a few more miles than the 5K distance affords.
