I saw your posting about relays. I have participated in two of them before and
they are awesome—great fun for a running group of 12 who don’t mind spending 24
or so intense hours together in two vans and who don’t mind running in the
middle of the night! Our group is putting together a team for the American
Odyssey Relay (http://www.americanodysseyrelay.com/) which takes place on April
24, 2009. It begins in Gettysburg, PA and winds its way through the Maryland
countryside all the way to downtown Washington, D.C. As it turns out, the relay
is being organized by a guy who has been a relay teammate of mine for both of
the relays in which I participated. He really knows his stuff and, because he
has done three relays, he knows what makes them work. He has shared the American
Odyssey Relay course map with me and I have driven some sections with him. It is
amazing. What a great way to see the Civil War battlefields and other historic
Maryland landmarks.
Finishing near the major DC monuments will also be very cool. I encourage
anyone interested in a fun group experience to check it out.
