Millersville, MD, March 16, 2004 - Hospice of the Chesapeake has announced that
the United States Capitol Police, of Washington, D.C., Paradigm Pharmacy, of
Millersville, and The Friends Foundation, of Annapolis, are the presenting
sponsors of its annual Stride 'n Ride fundraiser set for Saturday, May 1 at
Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro.
Stride 'n Ride raises money for hospice care, including grief counseling, for
people with a life-limiting illness in Prince George's and Anne Arundel County.
Participants will be able to walk, run or bike in memory of a loved one by
creating a "memory flag" that will be part of a brief healing ritual.
Participants raise money by having friends, family and business associates
sponsor them to run or walk a 5K or one-mile course, or bike a 25-mile or
15-mile route. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers. The Prince
George's Running Club will provide timing and results in the fun run with
certificates awarded to the top finishers in all categories. All participants
will receive a free T-shirt and lunch from Outback Steakhouse of Bowie.
Registration begins at 7:30 am at Watkins Regional Park, Picnic Area #0, in
Watkins Park, located near Six Flags America Amusement Park.
