Based on an article from the Sun recently, it seems to be a bit more apparent
that Harbs wanted Stover back and Ozzie didnt.

He and his doghouse can go, if he brings Stover back in 2009 this team is 7-3
and not 5-5. That double time out was a killer. We are not seeing any difference
under Hrbaugh as we where under Billick, same damn offense can not score in the
redzone, sam damn 15 yard late hit flags and no throwing the ball down field.

Well Stover was probably 50-50 to hit the minnesota field goal. That's the
only game where I think the kicker made a difference.

But offense you can blame on Cameron, he's the one calling the plays. It
really comes down to not having a big play receiver. Mason is good, but
he's good at exploiting zones and that sort of thing. Open space is where
he makes a difference.

why what did he do?

I mean cundiff 5 for 6 field goals? can't ask for much more. you need to
to punch one of those field goals into the end zone.

The other thing aout Hauschka not even talked about was he couldn't even put
kickoffs in the endzone.Stover could have kicked the goddamn ball to the 10 yard
line. This was the worst offseason ever for Ozzie.Yo never know, with Harbaugh an
ex-special teams coach maybe he wanted the extra guy instead of keeping two
kickers but letting Stover go was one of the dumbest moves since Fang traded for
Glenn Davis.

Well, I watched Cundiff's interview with the press and he seems like a nice kid
who understands the truth about the kicking business in the NFL, which is that
the bottom line is that you kick the FGs or you don't, and, if you don't, you're
gone, no excusers need apply.

There's something going on in the Castle, and it's not pleasant.  I'm wondering

Has anyone noticed how many penalties we get every game? I'ver been wondering
about that myself. Too many penalties is a Billick thing and I hated it then
and I hate it now. I'll grant you that there are only so many times you can
tell Foxworth to stop holding, but last year he would have benched him for a
game or two.

There's something going on in the Castle, and it's not pleasant. I'm wondering
if Ozzie and Harbs are not seeing eye to eye about something (or everything).

I still stand by the belief that although Stover was getting older he was still
a top 5, maybe 3 kicker in all of the NFL. Hauschka should not have been

This one is Harbaugh's baby. Every coach has his little idiocyncrisies, and
Harbaugh's was Stover. He wanted him gone and now he's gone and his loss cost
us at least one game, maybe more.

He has to take the blame for our being in the same boat as every other team on
earth, which is constantly having to worry about your kicker. Having an
automatic was a really nice perk. Stover was getting to the end but he wasn't
there yet.

I would also remain in touch with Hauschka. He had enormous pressure from
day-1, having to replace Stover. In another year, he might be the best in the
game, who knows? There is no other position more suited for the proverbial
"What have you done for me lately?" than the kicker.

Graham Gano will be available afetr next week when the UFL is done, 9 of 11
this season ith a long of 53yds. Yes it is like Single A ball, at the least I
think they grab him and palce him o nthe preactice squad but if by chance the
Ravens make a run, you bet your ass they sign Stover when Vinatari comes back.

Ravens sign Cundiff to replace Hauschka
Veteran kicker was 6 of 6 on field-goal attempts this season with Browns
The Ravens signed Billy Cundiff to be their new kicker, the team announced
Wednesday.

The addition of Cundiff comes one day after the Ravens released Steve Hauschka,
who missed three of his last seven field goals and had an extra point blocked.

Cundiff, 29, has made 66 of 89 career field goals (74.2 percent). He last played
for the Cleveland Browns (beating out Matt Stoverin a workout), but he was
released Nov. 3 after Phil Dawsonrecovered from a pulled right calf muscle.
Cundiff converted all six field goals for the Browns this season.

The Ravens worked out Cundiff and Nugent last week. The eight-year veteran has
played for three teams during the regular season:Dallas Cowboys (2002-05), New
Orleans Saints (2006) and Cleveland Browns (2009).

It was a crappy win for us. I watched it until about the last 3 minutes of the
game. Couldn't believe both teams were tied fricking 0-0 at halftime.

Normally, I'd say it was the usual case of the Ravens playing up to - or down to
- the quality of their competition. But they have been so bad recently, I think
it's more likely that they were just plain lousy but were lucky enough to play
someone even worse.

Ultimately it's Yow's fault for losing sight of the big ticket items for the
sake of Title IX sports, especially considering that they are not mutually
exclusive, but Ralph and Gary are not helping to right the simking ship either,
that's for sure.

It's said that Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg was the price the south paid for
Robert E. Lee. Same thing here; this is the price the Patriots pay for having
Bill Belichick as their coach.

I would add that much of the complaining would have to be in
retrospect/hindsight. Who among us would really think that Billy would miss a
4-and-2 call? Still, if you think it through, I'm not too sure that giving
Peyton 1-and-ten on a 29-yard field to play with is not brilliant.

Damn shame though. Even after all these years, I still look forward to the
Colts getting beaten no matter who the opponent, especially when the opponent is
the one they play next weekend.

He had done that kind of call against us as well before so it's not like he just
suddenly came up with it. You're right though, if they had made first down he
would have been called a genius again.

Bellichek went for it on a 4th and 2 with about 2:03 remaining at their 28 with
a 6 point lead.  It was a big balls call.  If they would have converted it, they
would have called him a genius.  IMO, if I would have known I was going to go
for it on 4th down, I would have done 2 QB sneaks in a row since it was 3rd and
2.

The Bengals swept both the Steelers and the Ravens.  How amazing is that?  But
it might help us with the wildcard, even though it won't because we cannot beat
the Steelers even once, let alone twice.

I keep hearing about this blown call but I don't know what it was.  I'll have to
research it.
