They got pretty good return for Trx considering the Cubs only plan to
use him as a back up.They needed a back up 3rd baseman with Gomez
gone.Rocky Cherry can't be any worse than Schuey.Even Fang could fart a
ball, bolstered by hot wings and beer to home plate better.

lowand behold the two clowns received in the Lopez deal from the Rockies are
expected to be in the pen for the Birds in 2008. Thye neded a little more
groomed along. I think Hoey was brought up to soon. He needed a full season on
the farm.

I think the O's should get away from this "mid-level" (who always

Rotoworld:

Right-hander Rocky Cherry was traded from the Cubs to the Orioles in a
three-player deal.

Cherry emerged as one of the Cubs' top relief prospects last year, but he wasn't
quite as successful in the minors this season, amassing a 4.59 ERA to go along
with his 56/18 K/BB ratio in 51 IP for Triple-A Iowa. He did have a 3.00 ERA in
15 innings for the Cubs earlier this season. While he is 28 years old, his stuff
is legitimate enough for him to have a career as a middle reliever. Like Scott
Moore, he'll likely be one of the Orioles' September callups.

Orioles acquired infielder Scott Moore and RHP Rocky Cherry from the Cubs for
RHP Steve Trachsel.

A nice return from the Orioles, considering that there didn't seem to be any
interest in Trachsel a month ago. Moore, 23, hit .265/.373/.526 with 19 homers
and 69 RBI in 321 at-bats for Triple-A Iowa. Unfortunately, he's a below average
third baseman. Still, he's insurance for Melvin Mora there and he'll be an
option as a first baseman or a DH against right-handers next year. There's no
star potential here, but he could be an asset while he's cheap.
____________
Moore was the #8 overall pick in 2002. Nice move by the former Cub employee
MacPhail.

Looks like it's the relief pitcher to help now a little, and the 3B is the
real deal.

Former 1st round pick, still on the young side, 7th best Cubs prospect (for
Trachsel? You gotta love that) with some pop - like 19 HRs.

If I live to be a thousand, I'll never figure out how that was
supposed to work. You need a college education these days to be
a 'mo.

I've got a real good friend for covers Baltimore
sports and he's always told me that the O's were tough
to deal with. The Ravens had always been the most
accomodating at least for him and he is with Comcast.

The all Balto/sports/politics idea sounds interesting.
If you've ever seen The Press Box that's sort of the
idea that they cover all local sports.

to be honest they rushed Cabrera up. I think he did not even hav a full season
above Low Single before they called him up. This a guy who 10 years ago the 1st
time he played baseball. As far as House h was suppose to Weiters or Markakis
or Zimmerman but Tommy John surgery hurt this kid behind the plate. He had a
bat. He was going to be the next Piazza behind the plate but it never panned
out. They say he is a season away from possibly being 100%.

But as we found out with Matt Riley and Heyden Penn, you can ruin a
kid for life by playing him to early and demanding results.

Bmore sports/Politics combined is needed. Did you read the Sun today? Article on
Lack of Bmore college athletes that the local school have to go elsewhere.
Morgan St has 24 Florida kids alone. That's a bad statement at us all. The
political figures have ignored these schools for years. There is no major NCAA
football and basketball program in the Bmore are dude to lack of interest from
the area. Maryland is DC folks.
There we go who is in? Anyone up for it im willing.I know enough politicians
where I could least get the issue looked at.

Maybe you and I should start up a Baltimore-only magazine. We could
actually do sports and local politics. You could ask Kiefer Mitchell
why his father has $50,000 more than yesterday while Kiefer's
campaign fund lost $50,000 yesterday, and I could ask Amber
Theoharris and Kelly Johnson for anal sex, even though they are
probably sick of hearing that question from Joe.

Seriously, I wonder how well a local Baltimore-only sports/politics
would work.

Well, I guess that isn't it. A little high, but not bad. Was just trying
to see if they had used up their arms, but they're a good ~20 innings under
career highs.

Unless.... we're those career highs last year?
