I think moving Matt to first would be a bad call. Wasn't he a top 3 or 5 catcher
during the second half of the season in throwing runners out at second base?
That's not something you can just teach a catcher, it's also instinct. I would
like to see if maybe Reimold might be able to move to first.

Actually, look for Moeller to indeed be back.  This is mostly "move Matt to
first" talk, which is not going to happen, at least not this year.  But both the
coaches and the staff loved Moeller, and he can hit as good or better than most
of the other catcher bums, so I'm thinking that they are bringing in a bunch of
potential backup catchers under the "Well, you never know" rule that Andy loves
so much, but will wind up sticking with Moeller.

I think Matt might be a victim of his own success, Stephen. Since everyone thinks he is going to be a superstar, and since catcher is a pretty tough position...

True. The flip side of the catcher coin is that first basemen grow on trees, but there are maybe half a dozen really good catchers in the majors at any given...

hy do the O's continue to scarpe the barrel for players and expect the overall team to get better. Admittingly the back up catcher doens't mean all that much...
