Re: [Bacchetta_Bikes] recurve seat

Jeff, I just checked my Giro 20. The Recurve seat on it has over 11,000 miles. Although the seat back mesh is still intact, it's getting a bit ratty. I can see a few things that might cause the mesh to come off the top of the frame.
1. Is the mesh tight? and I mean REAL tight. Where the mesh comes together in the back there is about 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch gap. The Zip ties are still holding the tension well, your's might not be.
2. Is the reinforcing and  stitching on the top of the mesh where it goes over the tubes still in good shape? If it's starting to unravel it might be allowing the mesh to shift around some.
3. Just for grins grab ahold of the seat back posts with each hand and pull them toward each other. There shouldn't be much give in them, and they should return back to their original position. If they make noise or don't return to the original position you should take off the back and inspect for a seat frame failure. I've not heard of this happening, but there's always a first time. New Zips can be found at most hardware stores.
4. If you can you may want to post a couple pictures to this egroup site. Lots of experts around here I'm sure there might be an opinion that could solve the problem.
I don't know how many miles you have on your bike, but my first year Giro has lots, and I'm a big guy so things tend to wear more quickly for me. 11,000 miles for me is like 20,000 miles for them skinny guys
I've since aquired a Giro 26 with a Euro seat, and while there were problems with the seat back mesh, it's now solved and I'm really happy with the seat. I didn't think Bacchetta could improve on the recurve, but after a season with the Euro, I'm thinkin they might have.
Let us know how you make out

Subject: [Bacchetta_Bikes] recurve seat

Hi all,
I've got a giro dual 26 I've had almost two years now. I'm having a
problem with the mesh coming off the top of the frame, its a recurve
seat. Has anyone else had this problem? I noticed their site has a free
repair kit for the euro seat. What about the recurve, does anyone know?

Thanks jeff pugh.

I've spent time on both the Recurve and the Euromesh. No back surgeries, but a history of a number of serious back injuries including a serious car crash and...
