I modified a small backpack to hang from the seat using
the adapter for the Bacchetta One For All bag. Pictures

Scroll to the bottom of the page for the section titled
"New Commuting Setup". You _will_ need a rear fender to
get this to work (but then for commuting you already have
one, right?).

Personally I find mirrors distracting.
