Mark J. Reynolds Memorial Ride
Mark J Reynolds is a former Colorado Springs resident and avid
Mountain Biker that was attacked and killed by a Mountain Lion last
week in California.
Pikes Peak Velo and King's Chef Team Extreme would like to invite you
to attend the Mark J. Reynolds Memorial ride. We will be meeting to
celebrate the life of Mark J. Reynolds by riding his favorite
loop, (up the Chutes, up Gold Camp, up Buckhorn, down upper Captain
Jacks across High Drive, down lower Captain Jack's, back down Gold
Camp and finally back down the Chutes).
Meet at the Stratton Open Space parking lot at 10:00AM Sunday January
25th.
All are welcome!
Mark left us doing what he loved to do, riding his bike. We believe
there isn't a better way to remember Mark than for all of us to hit
the trail in his memory. This ride will also be used to raise funds
for the Mark J. Reynolds First Bike Charity.
The First Bike Charity - Mark never met a stranger and touched so
many lives during his short 35 years. Something Mark did very
quietly was to purchase bicycles for needy kids who have never had
one (using his own money). Mark would work with local churches to
identify the children (he did this in Austin Texas, Houston Texas,
Colorado Springs Colorado, St. Joseph Missouri, San Diego California,
and Orange County, California...basically wherever he was living
at the time), Mark would then purchase the bikes and matching helmets
and go out and distribute them to the children himself. Mark once
said this about what he was doing, "maybe someday one of these kids
will become the next Lance Armstrong!"
A letter from Lance Armstrong was read during Mark's service on
Wednesday January 14th in St. Joseph Missouri. In reference to
Mark's quote above, Lance said, "forget about that, maybe one of these
kids will grow up to be the next Mark Reynolds!"
The memory of Mark J. Reynolds will live on in everyone Mark touched
and with your help can live on in the lives of needy children
everywhere.
Mark's family has set-up the "MARK REYNOLDS MEMORIAL FOR CHILDREN AND
THEIR FIRST BIKE". Donations will be accepted at the
