From Classic Rendezvous:
"Jim Merz built bike frames in Portland, OR from 1973 until late in 1982, then
he shut down his shop and went to work for Specialized as a designer. Merz could
build a track or 'cross bike, and built superlative road racing bikes, but
touring bikes were where he stood out. He made bikes with tubular steel
racks--generally shorter and quicker steering than most other touring rigs of
his time--and matching panniers also made in Portland.
Jim started riding a Campagnolo equipped bike in 1964, just after high school.
Jim worked as a machinist and taught himself frame building from his
metalworking background. He opened his own shop at NW 21st and Everett. Over 400
frames were produced, using Columbus, Reynolds 531 and 753 tubing including two
753 frames (He was the first USA builder certified to use 753) for pro rider
George Mount. Merz used BCM lugs and crowns, finished seat stays with flat tops
a la Schwinn Paramount, and decorated the bikes with simple graphics and paint.
His painter was Virginia Church.
To this day, many Portland bikies consider Merz machines in high regard, even
the best bikes ever made. Jim was a resident of Bainbridge Island, WA, working
for the Browning company, until his recent return to Specialized as their
"Master frame builder". "

51cm racer built in the early 70's, full Campagnolo Super Record gruppo, new
paint, decals, headbadge, chain etc. This is essentially like a new bike. I
think the bike was originally built for a female as it tends to fit women very
well.

I have for sale a stunning 56cm +- Richard Sachs built in early 1980's. I am the
second owner. The original owner took excellent care of it and put it in storage
for over 15 years when he moved out of New York State. After ten years the owner
had Cycle Art, Vista, California refinish frame in their Category 2 finish. That
finish is in excellent condition with only a few minor blemishes. I purchased it
from storage and now offer it for sale. I have only ridden it for test rides.
Frame is straight with no dents or rust. Campagnolo Record components.
Ask for more data and photos. Must be seen to appreciate in Walnut Creek. And
reasonable offers always replied too!!

slightly burnt yellow, suntour gearing, carnielli stem and rigida chrome 27's.
has a few scrathes that expose the frames chrome coating underneath. good bike,
rides and shifts pretty smooth. any questions call 313 808 0082. will consider
best offers.

Jerry Moos was mentioning this Paramount Elite model. Here is one on ebay. Looks
great to me. Components are not what i would expect.

and sprockets and chain are stainless steel. The rear sprocket has 10 gears and
front has 2. It's a really nice bike and ready to go if you are into

FOR SALE

Mid-to-late 80s Davdson Impulse 56cm. Tange Prestige tubing with internal cable
routing and beautiful lugwork. Full Shimano 600 7-speed group except for
Stronglight headset. Shimano 600 hubs laced to Mavic Open 4 CD rims. 3TTT stem
and 3TTT Podium bars. Forte Evolution 700x20mm tires (nearly new). Shimano 600
aero seatpost. Shimano SPD mountain pedals (cleats included). Custom factory
sponge flourescent paint over pearl white. Bill Davidson-built in Seattle, this
bike is an amazing example of his early framebuilding.
Bike is extremely good shape, with only minimal dings and no dents to be found.
Drivetrain runs perfectly. I hate to let it go, but it's simply too small for
me.

This Mercian road bike was made in England. It has Stronglight aluminum cranks
five point star , Weinman 999 brakes. It is a 10 speed. The rims are wienmann
700 the hubs are zeus in the front and Phil in the back. It has a shimano crane
GS rear deraileur, suntour deraileur in the front (not original) It has a brooks
leather saddle as well.

Here is an ULTRA RARE item for sale. 1960's Track Tandem hand built to be used
in the 1967 PanAm Games. This tandem has it all! I have only seen one other
example of these beautiful rides still in existence. Built with over sized
tubing just like the early 50's Paramounts were. It has some paint blemishes and
sticker fade. You could restore it to its full glory this winter or ride it at
the velodrome as is. This bike is easily twice as cool as any fixed gear you
have ever seen before.

Late 1960s Graziella road bike, made by Italian bicycle maker Carnielli.
Excellent shape and recently restored.

It has a 58cm top tube (measured center of head tube to center of seat tube) and
a 58cm seat tube (measured center of bottom bracket to center of top tube).

It has the original Campagnolo Strada cranks (170mm), as well as the original
Campagnolo shifters, hubs, and skewers. The front derailleur is early Dura Ace.
The rear derailleur is Shimano Crane, which was Shimano's top-of-the-line
component group prior to Dura Ace. The Dolomiti saddle (an Italian equivalent to
a Brooks saddle) is original. The Universal brake calipers are original.

When the bike was restored, the original sew up rims were deemed to be too worn
(the prior owner, who purchased it new, commuted on this bike for 20+years), so
a new pair of Velocity Aero clincher rims were laced on, as well as a fresh pair
of Continental Ultra Gatorskin tires (700x28c)

The bottom bracket is new, the hubs have been repacked, the cables are new, and
the bar tape and chain is new.

The bike is much too large for me, and I'm debating disassembling it and selling
off the parts individually to get top dollar on eBay. But if I can get a fair
price for the complete bike from a local buyer, that will save me a lot of time
and hassle.

Waterford MTB Frame only, 18". Model number 1400 FULLY LUGGED, NOT filet brazed,
built in 1994, very good condition with some minor scratches and chips but
absolutely no dents or dings and has never been crashed or damaged. The frame is
as straight and perfectly aligned as the day it left Wisconsin. I haven't ridden
this bike in almost 10 years. Paint is in excellent shape albeit with some of
the flaws noted. I have the original build sheet for the bike from Waterford as
well as a large bottle of two-part touch up paint from the factory. Someone
handy with a touch up brush can have this bike looking like new. Very nice
looking.

1978 PRN10-E Peugeot road bike, Reynolds 531 main triangle, 57cm square.
Non-original new parts: VO cartridge bearing headset, 10cm Technomic stem,
toe-in adjustable brake pads, toe clips with leather straps, housing/cables,
handlebar tape.
Non-original used parts in very good condition: 44cm Easton handlebar, Exage
aero brake levers, Berthoud stainless steel fenders, Shimano 105 front
derailleur.
Original parts: Mafac Racer brakes, Simplex rear derailleur, Stronglight 49d
crankset.
Wheelset upgraded at time of purchase to 700c wheels: Normandy hubs with Rigida
eyeleted rim in front and Wolber M58 rim in rear – tires are 700x28c.
Both hubs as well as bottom bracket overhauled.
Seat is old Wright’s leather thing – pretty well finished off…

Mondiale 63cm 12 speed Road Bike. This is a real high end quality Italian built
classic road bike. It's a pleasure to ride and works excellent. All the gears
shift well and the brakes work great. Great bicycle for getting around town
quickly. It has obviously been well maintained and stored inside since day one.
It's in overall very good condition considering it's about twenty years old.
Everything appears to be original from the factory. It has Shimano 600
components (including the headset and the brakes,) quick release Mavic MA40
wheels, racing pedals, Columbus tubing and an aluminum bottom bracket. It's
fairly lightweight as well. The paint is still very vibrant and the
decals/graphics are still very crisp. This bike would be great for a fixie
conversion or ride as-is for economical transportation. This is for local pick
up in Santa Monica only. Research what other comparable Bertoni road bikes are
going for on the internet. This is a great price. $260 obo Cash Only! NO

Handmade NOS Casati Gold Line SLX frameset 56 cm (c-c); Color: Blue, with
chromed fork (entire fork), chromed rear stays and chromed headtube lugs.
Tubing: Columbus SLX, with Italian threading (BB and fork)

Suntour Superbe Pro (7 speed) components, all NOS, except the brake levers,
which are NOS Suntour GPX. Seatpost is a new Ritchey WCS and the saddle is a
new/NOS Regal Girardi with big copper rivets. Stem is 3TTT with a new
double-butted lite Nashbar stem. Rims are Mavic MA3 (32 spokes front and 36
rear) laced with double butted SS spokes. Tires are Vittoria Pro-Team (Kevlar,
folding). The bike has been ridden only 10 miles since it was assembled, and has
been kept in an air-conditioned bedroom since then. Immaculate condition.

Bike is worth at least $1,800.00 Asking a firm $1,000 (will not accept any lower
offers). Have lot more pics to show details.
