Not mine, no relation, etc. I don't see a rear brake in the usual spot, it
says brake under frame - does that mean it's mounted where a kickstand would

Eric,

These would be chainstay mounted brakes ... (thought to be a more rigid place
to mount the brake, but caused a lot of mud accumulation, etc.).

Bridgestone MB-3. 18-speed, 16-inch frame. Fantastic road bike but we're
switching to a multipurpose work horse. It spent the winter in the basement and
will need a tune up, but I'll let it go for the first $100.

Vintage, mens, Schwinn, World Voyageur, 10 speed. From what I've found out on
the internet, this model was only made for one year. I'm no expert, but, it
seems to operate fine. Has some paint wear, scratches, etc. Front tire has age
cracking, but both are holding air. $ 75.00. 816-738-9598.

Late-1980s De Rosa SLX 60cm c-c with C-Record - $1400 (oakland piedmont /

This is a circa 1987 De Rosa SLX built with Campagnolo C-Record, painted
Sammontana Blue, seat tube 60cm c-c, top tube 58.5cm c-c, 12cm Cinelli Stem,
Cinelli 44cm bars, 175mm cranks. It's in great shape but for some paint / decal
damage on the downtube, non-drive-side. See pics.

It's a damn classy bike. Wheels are clinchers and I have an extra set of
tubulars built with the same C-Record hubs if you want them, as well as a period
Alfa Romeo / De Rosa jersey and shorts in size "5". (L/XL) These items are
extra, but I will make you a deal if you want them too.

Click the image below for more pictures, and make sure to click the "Full size"
links if you want more details. Please look at the pics before you ask me
questions about parts, tooth counts, etc. Yes I will ship for the cost of
shipping, but only to the lower 48. Paypal + paypal fees (3%) is accepted in
those cases. Disclaimer, disclaimer, disclaimer.

The person I bought this bike from bought it from the director of an east coast
racing team. I think it might have been one of the Alfa Romeo team bikes. It has
no serial number. I sent email to De Rosa, asking about it, and Cristiano De
Rosa emailed me back the date of manufacture, but couldn't or didn't tell me for
whom it was made. I've contacted one of the racers on the old Alfa Romeo team
about it, and he thinks it's possible it was the race bike of one of two guys on
his team. I can pass these emails on to you, when you buy it.

59cm Rivendell Romulus road bike. All original except for IRD Clyde rims
(replaced within first few months...stock Araya rims had issues staying true).
Brooks B-17 saddle, shellaced tressostar handlebar tape, cold-forged Sugino
triple crank, 105 derrailleurs, Dura Ace Bae-end shifters, 9 speed cassette, 105
hubs. Beautiful hand-built Japanese lugged frame and flat-crown fork. Clearance
for fat tires, fenders, and racks. Great for centuries, long rides, tours.
Near-mint condition. Very low miles. Never raced or crashed.

This Bob Jackson touring bike was custom built in England using the 'Reynolds
531 Super Tourist' frame. It is a 64cm frame in good condition and exceptionally
close to being a complete bike, except for the pedals. It has usable tires,
racing handle bars, a custom Brooks seat from England, hand pump, two water
bottle holders attached to frame and a small Mountain Rack over the back tire.

I am asking $1,000 for it knowing that most Bob Jackson bikes fetch between
$1,500 and $2,000 dollars, and that's just for the frame alone. The frame is
dark green with yellow "Bob Jackson" decals. Pictures below; e-mail me if you
are interested or want to know more.

Vintage SOMEC Road Bike 59 cm with Campagnolo C-Record MINT MINT! - $1400 (Costa
Mesa)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reply to: sale-658383624@...
Date: 2008-04-27, 12:32PM PDT

Sparkling white and spectacularly GORGEOUS, this vintage SOMEC road bike has
only been ridden approx. 140 miles. It was purchased new in the mid-late 80's
(for a sky high price) and ridden 80 miles, then hung on the wall. I saw it and
fell in love - it is a work of art. So I purchased it from the original owner,
and rode it about 60 miles. Unfortunately, it is too big for me. (I need a
57cm.) So I hung it on the wall for a while, then when I moved, it went into a
box, and has sat in that box for all these years.

I could take it apart and sell all the pieces - I estimate that would net about
$2,000. But it would break my heart to take it apart when it is so perfect as it
is, so I'd like to try and sell it to a buyer who will keep it intact, and
either put it in a museum or on display, or else ride it. (It was, after all,
probably THE best riding bike that money could buy at the time it was built.)

Here is the breakdown:

Frame: SOMEC Super Corsa
Size: 58.4 cm C-C, or 60 cm C-T. Top tube measures about 56.7 cm. Wheelbase
39.25"
Tubing: Columbus SPX

Finish: Painted White with multicolor trim, paint fades to chrome
Part way out on the fork, chainstays and seatstays, the paint fades to a
beautiful, shiny chrome plating. (Stunning - Italian artistry at its finest!)

Entire Gruppo: Campagnolo ("Campy") C-Record 7-speed, featuring the famous Campy
Delta brakes (Again, Italian artistry at its finest!).

Hubs: C-Record 32H small flange
Crank: C-Record 53/42
Pedals: none

Bars: Cinelli 66-42 (42 cm standard road bar)
Stem: Cinelli (of course!), 120 mm
Wrapped with color-coordinated white/blue Cinelli cork tape in 100% perfect
condition.

Seatpost: Campagnolo C-Record aerodynamic 27.2 mm (beautiful!)
Seat: Selle San Marco Rolls - brown leather with brass/gold trim on back

Freewheel: Regina Extra 7 speed, 12,13,14,15,17,19,21
Chain: Regina

Wheels: Campagnolo Delta - Strada XL Chromium 32 hole clinchers
Tires: Continental Super Sport 25-622 700x25c Made in Germany
Note: Tires are the original tires from 20+ yrs ago, should probably be replaced
if you are going to do any serious riding.

Aside from a couple of hairline scratches on the decals here and there, this
bike is practically in brand new condition. There are no signs of wear on the
drivetrain or brakes, the tires still have all their tread, the seat is not
broken in, etc. etc. The bike has basically been time-machined.

Advertising here first for a week, as I would prefer to sell to a local buyer.
If not sold, it will be going on eBay next weekend.

I have lots and lots of photos, so feel free to email if you'd like to see more.

History: In the 60's, Oliviero Gallegati worked as a mechanic for the Giro
d'Italia. Seeing a need to establish standards for Giro mechanics, he
established the "Mechanic's Society"--(SOcieta' MEChanica), thus creating the
acronym for SOMEC frames. A rarity in Italy, as he did not name his frames after
himself as most other Italian framebuilders do, but after his society. Today,
every SOMEC frame is made in Lugo, and is crafted from steel or aluminum. SOMEC
still makes less frames in a year than a mass producer makes in an hour. (note:
When you see the SOMEC logo, do not be confused with Ferrari. As the story goes,
back in ancient history when Oliviero and Enzo Ferrari both wanted to show the
Cavallino on their product, they came to an agreement as fellow "Romagnesi":
Ferrari would put the tail up, SOMEC the tail down. They have never argued from
that day).

Bridgestone T-500 Classic Touring Bike - $165 (Portland)

Reply to: sale-664175148@...
Date: 2008-05-02, 12:29PM EDT

A real touring bike from back in the day! And it is a Bridgestone (see link
below). Large 23" 4130 steel double-butted frame, triple chain ring (15
speeds), Araya rims (27" stainless spokes), Sansin hubs, cantilever brakes
(provides plenty of fender clearance), rear rack, Sun Tour arx derailleurs, can
take two water bottle cages (one included), dia-compe brakes, sr pedals
w/clips. Bike is great as is or can be converted into an all-rounder/ hybrid
commuter (straight/cruiser/moustache bars, thick knobby tires). $165/BO

I have lots of bikes, mostly older road bikes like Nishiki, Fuji, Lotus,
Motobecane, Univega, and Bridgestone, I also get mountain bikes, cruisers, 3
speeds, and hybrids. I cherry pick through piles of bikes, buy in bulk, and
have them professionally repaired. Most of my bikes are decent older bikes,
which have several advantages over newer bikes:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/upgrade.html
Some companies like Bridgestone have gained legendary status:
http://www.ebykr.com/?p=35
but there were a lot of companies making good bikes back then. For a primer on
Japanese bikes this is a good article:

''Established in 1896, Frejus had an impressive track record having won the
world championships on both road and track in 1930, 1933 and 1948. The list of
champion riders included such names as Guiseppe Olmo, Cino Cinelli and even Gino
Bartali. You are bidding on a very desirable and rare 1949 Frejus with
Campagnolo's first shifting system, Cambio Corsa. This bike is all original
except for the items that would not survive the ages - tires, bar tape, and toe
straps. It has Campagnolo hubs and shifters of course, a Brooks Campagnolo
model saddle (how cool is that?), Ambrosio rims wrapped in vintage Clement
Criterium Setas, Ambrosio bars and stem, and Frejus-branded cranks, pedals, toe
clips, and Balilla Frejus brakes. All completely timely for the bike. Shifts
very well. To shift the Cambio Corsa system, you quick release the rear hub
(yes, on the fly!), wag the shifter in or out while pedaling backwards until it
catches a new cog, then reattach your wheel. The splines on the axle roll on
the teeth on the upper part of the dropout keeping the wheel straight, and
gravity tensions your chain since the dropouts are on a slope. Clever Signor
Tullio! Here are the numbers in cm: Seat tube 53 c to c, top tube 54.5 c to c,
standover height 78, chainstays 44, front center 61, bb height 26.3, stem 8,
bars 45 edge to edge (they flair out some). Wheels are 36 x 36. It weighs an
astonishing 20.5 lbs (9.3 kg) This bike sports original paint in decent shape,
and original finish on the metal parts, with a little crazing here and there
from age. Decals show up very nicely as you can see. Not too bad for 58 years
old. bearings all run smooth including the headset. It is ready to ride but
you will need to glue on the tires first. Buyer will pay $40 for professional
packing plus actual shipping. I wrap the whole frame in foam insulation tubes
and secure everything inside the box. Good luck and happy bidding. There is no
buy-it-now and the auction will not be ended early.

This is a 19" frame Trek 520 touring bike that has been well-maintained and
little used. It has a US built double butted Chrom-Moly frame that gives it
a smooth, stable, and comfortable ride. It comes with a high quality Terry
seat and a Sigma Sport meter. The chain and tires are new. If you are
looking for a quality, durable touring bike at a really good price, this is
it. This bike makes a very good commuter bike too with a couple of panniers
on it for groceries etc. Cash only, pick-up only.

1973 Motobecane Grand Record vintage road bike, BEAUTIFUL! - $695 (Littleton)

Reply to: sale-665977434@...
Date: 2008-05-03, 7:25AM MDT

Here's a 1973 Motobecane Grand Record in beautiful shape. Made in France. Bike
is an eclectic mix of Campagnolo and TA. Built from Reynolds 531, it is sized
62 cm.
I believe it is all original except for the rear wheel. Even the bar tape and
cable housing appears to be original, which suggests the bike has very low
miles. I have sourced the correct parts to put the bike in 100% original
condition. Included with the bike are

- 2 NOS Super Competition Champion 36-hole tubular rims
- High-flange Normandy Luxe Competition hubs
- NOS axle and cone set for Normandy Luxe hubs

Also included with the bike is the original sales brochure (see last pictures).

The paint and chrome are in fantastic shape. The paint is very shiny which
causes it to look worse in pictures due to reflections. Has original Brooks
Professional saddle. Philippe bars and stem. 3-pin TA crankset. Campagnolo
Nuovo Record derailleurs and shifters. Weinmann centerpull brakes and levers.

A simple wheel build and hub overhaul are all that is needed to make this a
truly fantastic bicycle. Price lowered to $695 OBO. Tons of pictures below!
